Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding the right therapist in Maine starts with identifying what you need support with. Common reasons people seek therapy include anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, trauma, and life transitions. Maine has licensed providers trained in a range of approaches — from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to couples counseling and family therapy. Knowing what you want to address can help you narrow your search.
Practical factors matter, too. Consider whether you prefer in-person sessions at a location near you — such as Portland, Bangor, Augusta, or Lewiston — or whether virtual appointments fit your schedule better. Many therapists in Maine offer both options. Reading a provider's bio before booking can give you a sense of their style, specialties, and approach, so you can feel more confident about your choice.
Therapy in Maine can be expensive out of pocket, but using your in-network insurance benefits is one of the most reliable ways to reduce your costs. On Headway, you can enter your insurance information to see estimated session costs upfront, and many patients pay as low as $0 per visit. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, making it easier to find a provider who fits both your clinical needs and your budget.
