I am Paula George, Psychiatric Mental Health and Family Nurse Practitioner . My education and experience have equipped me to offer the necessary services for people with mental health problems. I'm open-minded while I perform outpatient comprehensive care, care coordination, supportive therapy and referrals for specialty treatment. As a board certified provider in both Psychiatry and Internal Medicine, Dr. Gordon Kusi specialize in working with individuals who may be experiencing ADHD, anxiety, bipolar, substance use, depression or trauma—particularly when these struggles stem from difficult relationships or family dynamics. My specialty is "trauma", which is a broad term. Any experience that leaves you feeling unsafe, confused, insecure or unloved can be traumatic. I work with sexual abuse, violent and workplace trauma, natural disasters, infidelity and all the anxieties that may come with trying to cope with these issues.

I use an eclectic approach because no one modality fits every person and every situation. I use psychotherapy techniques, cognitive behavior therapy, hypnosis and EMDR. I also continually attend conferences to stay current with the best and newest forms of treatments.

Following graduate school in Chicago, I moved back to my home state of NJ and I have been working at RWJ/Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth since 2021. I've worked with children/teens with a variety of mental health and behavioral needs including ADHD, anxiety, depression, self-harm and suicidality, Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as children who have experienced trauma.

I am a board certified adult psychiatric nurse practitioner with 16 years of experience in medication management. My specialties include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, OCD, sleep disorders and more. I treat patients 18 years and older and see patients in person at my quiet office suite as well as through online telehealth. Please note that I am no longer prescribing stimulant medications for ADHD (Adderall, Vyvanse, methylphenidate, etc).

As a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I have a wealth of experience treating all populations adolescents, adults, and geriatric populations. Starting as nurse aide, I have been in this field for over 20 years. I obtained an associate degree in nursing from Hudson County Community College, a Bachelor of Science from New Jersey City University, a Master of Science from Wilkes University, and currently pursuing a Doctorate Degree at Wilkes University. I believe prioritizing mental health is key to happiness and stability in life. Seeking help can be one of the most daunting and hardest parts, so congratulations on taking that step! I am mindful that growing up, so many peoples around me who had mental health challenges were often misunderstood and, as such, did not receive the proper care they needed.
