Healing Across the Lifespan: A Partnership in Mental Wellness
Choosing a mental health provider is a deeply personal decision. You aren’t just looking for a prescriber; you are looking for a witness to your story, an expert in the biological complexities of the brain, and a partner in your recovery.
My name is Jessica Stanley, and I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). My journey to this practice has been defined by a unique duality: the macro view of a healthcare executive and the micro focus of a dedicated clinician. Before opening the doors to this practice, I served as the Clinical Director for a large-scale healthcare organization. In that role, I was responsible for the oversight of complex systems, the mentorship of large clinical teams, and the implementation of evidence-based protocols across diverse populations.
While my time in leadership allowed me to impact mental health at a systemic level, my true passion has always remained in the quiet, transformative moments of the exam room. I have returned to full-time clinical practice to bring that high-level expertise back to where it matters most: the individual human experience.
Mental health does not exist in a vacuum, nor does it look the same at age seven as it does at seventy. I specialize in treating patients across the entire lifespan. Whether I am working with a child struggling to navigate their first years of school, an adolescent facing the pressures of identity formation, or an adult managing the heavy mantle of career and family, my approach remains the same: comprehensive, compassionate, and evidence based.
Areas of Specialization
I am trained to treat a broad spectrum of psychiatric conditions including:
ADHD & Neurodivergence
Anxiety Disorders
Depression
PTSD & Trauma Recovery
My name is Nicole and I am a nurse practitioner with dual board certifications, one is in mental health and the other in family practice. I have worked in health care since 2017 and have worked in multiple specialties over the years from the Neuro/STROKE unit to the Pediatric Emergency Department. However, my passion landed with midlife woman. The menopause transition is a time a chaos leading to new anxiety and depression, changes mood, insomnia, cognitive changes and struggles with relationships (friends, family and intimate partners). My goal is to help you feel more like yourself during this transition and beyond.
I am currently accepting new clients. I provide children, teenagers, and adults a safe and supportive place to get help with emotional or behavioral challenges. I customize each treatment plan to the patient's preferences, using traditional medication management and/or integrative psychiatry to provide a holistic approach to improve each patient's mental health and overall balance, helping you be happier. You are not alone; I can help you throughout this journey.
Graduated from Duke University and the University of Pennsylvania, I bring over 8 years of experience in the psychiatric and mental health field, caring for patients at Johns Hopkins Medicine, Sheppard Pratt Hospital, St. Joseph Medical Center (University of MD), St. Vincent's Villa (Catholic Charities, MD), and Thundermist Health Care (Rhode Island).
My goal is to help you function at your best while building confidence and stability. I genuinely care about my patients. Together, we can find a path for you to live your best life. Give me a call or send me a text for a brief free introductory chat, no commitment required.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding the right psychiatrist in Providence starts with understanding what kind of care you need. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can diagnose mental health conditions, prescribe medication, and in some cases provide talk therapy. If you're looking for help with anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, or medication management, a psychiatrist may be the right fit. Psychiatric nurse practitioners (PMHNPs) can also prescribe and manage medication and are another option available through Headway.
Providence is home to a range of mental health providers, but narrowing your search can take time — especially when you're confirming insurance coverage and availability. Consider what matters most to you, whether that's a provider who specializes in a specific condition, offers virtual appointments, or practices near your neighborhood. Reading a provider's bio can help you understand their approach and decide if they're a good match before you book.
Psychiatry sessions in Providence can be expensive without insurance. Using your in-network benefits is one of the most reliable ways to lower your out-of-pocket costs. On Headway, you can enter your insurance details to see estimated session costs upfront, and your out-of-pocket expense may be as low as $0 per session, though costs may vary based on your location and exact insurance coverage. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, making it easier to find a psychiatrist who is both the right clinical fit and covered by your plan.
