Welcome to a healthier happier you! I am excited to join you on your wellness journey. Therapy is a courageous act of self-care. I see my clients as whole individuals, and we explore all aspects of everyday life: physical, mental, social, financial health and more.
Hello! My name is Ty Martin and I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri since 2010. In addition to Missouri, I am also licensed in the states of Washington, Iowa, and Nevada. I aspire to get licensed in other states so I can provide services to those in need.
My theoretical orientation is based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (CBT) as there are a variety of interventions to choose from that are evidenced based. I specialize in Trauma Informed CBT, e.g. TF CBT for children 3-18 and Cognitive Processing Therapy for ages 14-Adulthood. However, I have had the opportunity to serve people with use of Strength Based Approaches, Non directive therapy, e.g. Client Centered Approaches and Directive therapy approaches, Skills Building and Structured Problem Solving, amongst many other interventions.
In my tenure as a therapist, I have served across many facets including Virtual, In Home, Inpatient, Outpatient, Intensive Outpatient, In School, and other Community based settings. I also have treated across diverse cultures including but not limited to age, ethnicities, gender, disabilities, socioeconomic status, etc.
My approach is to meet the client where they are at, not only from the first session, but where they may find themselves session to session. I believe in concentrating on the "now," focusing on the past when necessary but centering on the present.
My practice is trauma informed. I have sought out continuing education in the areas of Play Therapy (trauma informed), Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (children to adulthood), and extensive experience in suicidality. I have experience in many areas of mental health, i.e. inpatient, outpatient, jails, schools (K-12), and vocational/residential. Through my experience working in schools, I gained an understanding of how to work and communicate with children, adolescents, and young adults.
I was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV, and I worked in the hospitality industry for 30+ years before going back to college and earning an advanced degree and clinical licensure. Some say being a bartender for so long made for an easy transition to therapy!

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Searching for therapists in Nevada starts with finding care that fits your needs and your location. Across the state, available therapists and areas of focus can vary between urban areas and more rural communities. If you want support with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, or life transitions, look for a therapist whose listed specialties match what you want to address. Provider bios can also show whether a therapist uses approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, or trauma-informed care.
Your search may look different in Las Vegas, Reno, Carson City, or another part of Nevada. Some people prefer in-person sessions close to home or work, while others choose virtual appointments for more scheduling flexibility. As you compare therapists, consider appointment availability, whether they offer a free phone consultation, and how they describe their communication style. Reading profiles before booking can help you understand what sessions may be like and narrow your list to therapists who feel like a practical fit.
The cost of therapy in Nevada varies, and using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs. Headway helps you find therapists who take insurance, are accepting new patients, and offer clear pricing before you book. Nationally, Headway works with over 100 insurance plans, and you can enter your plan details to check your coverage for your area. From there, you can browse therapists, review bios, and book directly when you’re ready.
