Hello, I’m Diana Tabares-Avila, a compassionate therapist dedicated to helping individuals feel supported, understood, and empowered through life’s challenges. I earned my undergraduate education at University of Nevada, Reno and have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families from diverse backgrounds.
I believe healing happens in safe and trusting relationships. Clients often describe me as patient, caring, and easy to talk to. I take pride in creating a space where people feel seen, heard, and respected without judgment. Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship stress, parenting concerns, or major life transitions, I aim to help you feel less alone and more confident in moving forward.
I also value ongoing growth as a clinician and continue expanding my knowledge so I can provide thoughtful, evidence-based care tailored to each client’s needs.
Therapy with me is a conversation, not a lecture. I’m direct, a little sarcastic, and I use humor to make the hard stuff easier to talk about. I believe in meeting you where you are—whether you’re navigating a major life transition, working through past trauma, or just trying to figure out why everything feels overwhelming. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and maybe even laugh a little along the way.
I started my career in behavioral health 18 years ago, working with children on the autism spectrum. I fell in love with the helping profession and went on to graduate college with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. After working in the child welfare and mental health fields, I earned a master’s degree in social work and practiced 3000 hours of clinical therapy. I am now a fully licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). My work and life experience have taught me that each client’s needs are unique and complex. I work collaboratively with you to integrate traditional therapy techniques, evidence-based somatic skills, and spiritual wellness to help you reach your desired goals and healing.
Spanish bilingual, multifaceted, open-minded, understanding, & w/ extensive background in Acculturation, Criminal Justice, Counterterrorism, Immigration, & Psychology. Over 10 years of working w/ all ages, cultures, & sub-cultures in Arizona & Nevada.
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who has worked with children, teens, adults, and families in community mental health, crisis services, and outpatient therapy. I’m bilingual in English and Spanish, and I focus on creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard and respected. My style is warm, patient, and collaborative.
Reaching out for support takes courage, and I believe everyone deserves a space where they feel heard, understood, and accepted. Since 2018, I've had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences, with a special passion for providing affirming, culturally responsive care to members of the LGBTQ+ and Latinx communities. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental environment where you can show up as your authentic self and feel supported every step of the way.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Searching for therapists in Nevada starts with finding care that fits your needs and your location. Across the state, available therapists and areas of focus can vary between urban areas and more rural communities. If you want support with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, or life transitions, look for a therapist whose listed specialties match what you want to address. Provider bios can also show whether a therapist uses approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, or trauma-informed care.
Your search may look different in Las Vegas, Reno, Carson City, or another part of Nevada. Some people prefer in-person sessions close to home or work, while others choose virtual appointments for more scheduling flexibility. As you compare therapists, consider appointment availability, whether they offer a free phone consultation, and how they describe their communication style. Reading profiles before booking can help you understand what sessions may be like and narrow your list to therapists who feel like a practical fit.
The cost of therapy in Nevada varies, and using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs. Headway helps you find therapists who take insurance, are accepting new patients, and offer clear pricing before you book. Nationally, Headway works with over 100 insurance plans, and you can enter your plan details to check your coverage for your area. From there, you can browse therapists, review bios, and book directly when you’re ready.
