Welcome! Allow me to introduce myself! I am a dually licensed professional counselor and I use a combination of CBT and client centered approaches to help my clients! - it wouldn’t be unlike me to ask what your “theme song” is! I’ve been working in the mental health field for over 20 years using play, music and art to facilitate growth! Occasionally my kitty Booger likes to pop up and say hi!
Hi, my name is Tammy Payne, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience providing psychotherapy. I offer telehealth therapy to adults throughout New Jersey and work with individuals navigating a variety of life challenges, including relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, infertility, and other stressors that can impact emotional well-being and daily functioning.
I believe that one of the most important aspects of therapy is the relationship between therapist and client. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable being yourself. Clients often describe me as warm, approachable, and easy to talk to. I strive to provide a balance of compassion, honesty, and practical guidance while helping clients gain insight, build resilience, and create meaningful change in their lives.
Welcome! I specialize in evidence-based treatment for anxiety disorders, ADHD, Autism, trauma-related concerns, grief, and life transitions. I work with clients across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, adults, first responders, veterans, and families seeking structured support and meaningful change.
I use compassion, warmth, and a touch of humor to help clients feel safe, understood, and at ease during our work together. I also strive to create a supportive environment where clients can explore challenges without judgment and reconnect with their strengths.
Therapeutically, I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed practices, psychodynamic approaches, DBT skills, mindfulness, and strengths-based coaching to support clarity, healing, and growth at each client’s pace.
Inspired by the Tibetan Buddhist concept of the Four Immeasurables—happiness, joy, compassion, and equanimity—my practice reflects a commitment to cultivating emotional resilience and deeper wellbeing in everyday life.
Whether you're seeking support through stress, trauma, neurodivergence, identity development, or life transitions, my role is to walk with you, guide you, and help you discover meaningful change from the inside out.
Robbenmarie works well with adolescents and adults for general mental health, as well as adults for trauma focused therapy. She is trained in EMDR approaches, as well as evidenced-based skills and therapy to improve your overall mental health!I have a warm and empathetic approach towards my clients. I especially value deep commitment and understanding as I get to know you.
I’m deeply committed to creating a warm, welcoming environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself. I approach therapy with empathy, curiosity, and a genuine desire to understand your unique story. I’m here to support them in their journey, offering not just expertise, but also encouragement and a sense of partnership. My practice is all about empowering you to take charge of your life, equipping you with the tools and confidence to navigate whatever challenges come your way.
I am here to provide a warm, non-judgmental space where you can explore life's challenges. My background in clinical social work means I not only focus on your internal experiences, but also understand how family, community, social factors, and your health impact your well-being. I subscribe to a simple philosophy: you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to stand with you, offering support and new perspectives within the context of your unique world.
I support individuals navigating life’s transitions—whether that means marriage, divorce, retirement, relocation, empty nesting, menopause, or simply the quiet realization that life is asking for something new.
My practice is rooted in culturally responsive, client-centered care that honors the full complexity of who you are—not just the labels others may place on you. I believe healing begins when people feel truly seen, understood, and supported without judgment.
While I work with individuals from all walks of life, I have a special passion for supporting women of color, particularly those 55 and older, who are redefining themselves in powerful new seasons of life.
You do not have to navigate change alone.
Together, we will work toward the life you are seeking—personally, professionally, and spiritually.
Hi, I’m a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I graduated from Drexel University with my Master's degree in Nursing. I then completed my Post-Graduate Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I have over twenty years of experience working in healthcare. Psych has always been my passion. My experiences encompass working with clients across the life span, including Child and Adolescents, Adult, and Geriatric patient populations. I’m a very compassionate, caring, and empathetic person. I strive to provide holistic care and collaborate with my clients to develop a treatment plan that they are comfortable with.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding the right therapist in Metuchen starts with getting clear on what kind of support you're looking for. Common reasons residents seek therapy include anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and life transitions. If you're considering couples or family therapy, look for a provider with specific training in those areas. For medication management, a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner can help.
Metuchen is a small borough, so your search may extend to nearby communities like Edison, Highland Park, or Woodbridge. Virtual sessions can also expand your options — many licensed New Jersey providers see patients from anywhere in the state. When reviewing a provider, pay attention to their specialty, approach, and credentials (such as LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or psychologist) to find someone who matches your needs.
Therapy in New Jersey can be expensive out of pocket, but using in-network insurance coverage is one of the most reliable ways to reduce your costs. On Headway, you can enter your insurance details to see estimated session costs before you book. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, and many patients pay as low as $0 per visit depending on their coverage.
