Some people experience fear that holds them back. Others are so weighed down by the complexities of life that it feels like there is not enough energy to do anything. Over time, they shift further and further away from the person that they know they can be, but they feel like they’ve already tried everything and feel stuck. If you can resonate, the bravest thing you can do is reach out. We all have core beliefs that define how we see ourselves and the world. These beliefs have huge implications for our emotional, behavioral, and relational patterns. Some are positive and helpful, and others are fear-based and limiting.
I help people gain awareness of their limiting core beliefs so they can actively reframe them, if necessary, into more beneficial and realistic beliefs. Together, we can explore the internal and external factors that impact not only your beliefs, but the feelings, behaviors, and relationships associated with those beliefs.
I collaborate with individuals, couples, and families, and together, we work to accomplish the changes they desperately want to make. If you are ready for a change, know I will be right by your side as you reclaim joy, face your fears, and begin to feel at peace with yourself again (or maybe even for the first time).
If you've spent a long time handling everything on your own, the idea of opening up in therapy can feel uncomfortable — maybe even a little vulnerable. You might be stuck in your head, second-guessing yourself, or repeating patterns you can't quite break no matter how hard you try. You don't need to have it all figured out before you reach out. You just need a willingness to start, and I'll meet you right there.
I firmly believe that everyone has the capacity for growth and change, even when they feel stuck. I've always been drawn to understanding what makes people tick and what gets in the way of them living their best lives. I'm passionate about helping others improve their quality of life by providing a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space for clients to explore their thoughts, identify their strengths, and develop practical strategies for creating positive change. I see my role as a facilitator, guiding individuals on their own unique path to greater well-being and a sense of liberation from what holds them back.
I'm not that stoic, serious therapist you've traditionally seen portrayed in movies. I smile, I laugh, I frown, I may even gasp (insert gasp!).
NYU Graduate and Post- Graduate Clinical Professor
Director of the Post- MAster's Program in Addictions- NYU
I am open to new ideas and problem solving, through listening and exploring options. I welcome in depth conversations and always learn from my clients. Creating an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect is a primary goal. Setting attainable realistic goals for life. I have experience in business, schools (k-12 and higher education) and the Family Court System
My experiences include extensive training for diverse populations: Community Oriented Police, School Police officers, First Responders and Hospital security.
I have also taught coparenting classes and work with hundreds of couples in creating and implementing parenting plans. I have instructed and supervised counselors in training at both the University level and have been a hands on field instructor.
In the area of leadership, I have been president of the Pennsylvania Counseling Association, president od the board of both Circle Group Homes and the William Gladden Foundation. I have served on many community boards and current chair the scholarship committee for The Greater Allegheny Education Foundation.
I bring 20+ years of experience and a genuine belief that every person has the capacity for change. I'm direct but compassionate — I'll be honest with you, and I'll always be in your corner. I don't believe in labeling people or fitting you into a box. You are a whole, complex human being, and that's how I'll treat you. I also have experience working with dually diagnosed individuals and those navigating substance use alongside other mental health challenges, so no matter what you're carrying, I've likely sat with someone in a similar place.
Welcome! I'm Kerriann and I became a therapist because I love helping others to become the best version of themselves possible. My clients choose me because I'm warm, gentle, and help them to live authentic and fulfilling lives. I'm a licensed therapist (LCSW-C), a board-approved supervisor, and received my MSW from the University of Maryland SSW. I have extensive training in my areas of specialty, which are grief and loss, parenting, and anxiety.
I have been practicing therapy for several years (licensed for almost 2) and the more I do it the more I enjoy it. I enjoy hearing people's stories and watching them change and progress in many different ways. I like to ask questions, but am not afraid to challenge something or make a joke at times. I have worked in the drug and alcohol field for several years and in that field I encountered many different mental health conditions.
