I believe mental health care works best when it feels like a partnership. I take time to listen, understand your experiences, and involve you in every step of your treatment plan. My goal is to create a space where you feel respected, heard, and supported while we work together to find the right tools and strategies to help you feel more stable, confident, and hopeful about the future.
Hi, I’m Mariam Opafunso, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from Ohio University and have experience working in both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health settings. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and other mood-related concerns, as well as eating-related conditions in adolescents and adults.
Outside of my professional role, I value balance and growth, and I show up fully for the people I serve. I understand that seeking help can feel overwhelming, and I create a space where you feel comfortable, respected, and truly heard.
Dr. Adolf Malik, DNP, APRN, completed his master’s degree at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, followed by a post-master’s and a doctoral degree in nursing practice at Winston-Salem State University, NC. He also completed a post-doctoral degree in psychiatric mental health practice at Frontier Nursing University. He is board-certified in Adult, Child, and Adolescent Psychiatry; a Family Nurse Practitioner, a DOT Medical Examiner, and a SAMHSA (X-Waiver) addiction provider.
If you’re the one everyone depends on but you feel anxious, burned out, or emotionally drained, you don’t have to keep pushing through alone. I work with adults who are high-functioning on the outside but overwhelmed on the inside, especially women, professionals, parents, caregivers, and veterans navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, burnout, and major life transitions.
I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and over 20 years of experience across diverse healthcare settings. As a veteran, I bring personal understanding of military culture and chronic stress. My approach is collaborative, culturally responsive, and judgment-free, blending evidence-based medication management with supportive, real-world conversation.
If you’re looking for care that feels thoughtful, respectful, and tailored to your life, not rushed or one-size-fits-all, invite you to schedule a consultation and take the first step toward feeling more grounded and supported.
Healing isn't linear and I understand that deeply, both professionally and personally. As a dual -certified Family and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, and an attorney, I bring a unique, comprehensive perspective to care. But more than titles, I bring lived experience.
I know grief intimately. The pain I carried afterwards was unexplainable. It didn't fit into a neat diagnosis or timeline. That experience shaped not only how I show up for others but why I do my work.
Whether you are navigating the aftermath of a death, a medical diagnosis, a relationship rupture, or job loss, I offer a safe, grounded and trauma focused space. I help clients process complex emotions, rebuild self-trust, and gently move toward healing, at your own pace.
If you're carrying something heavy, you don't have to carry it alone. I'd be honored to walk with you.

Finding the right psychiatrist in North Richland Hills starts with understanding what kind of care you need. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can diagnose mental health conditions, prescribe medication, and in some cases provide talk therapy. If you're looking for help with anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, or medication management, a psychiatrist may be the right fit. Psychiatric nurse practitioners (PMHNPs) can also prescribe and manage medication and are another option available through Headway.
With many providers practicing across the mid-cities area — from Hurst and Bedford to Keller and Colleyville — narrowing your search can take time. Consider what matters most to you, whether that's a provider who specializes in a specific condition, offers virtual appointments, or practices close to your neighborhood. Reading a provider's bio can help you understand their approach and decide if they're a good match before you book.
