I was born in Brazil and my education was shaped in the U.S. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland College Park, where I completed about 160 credits, and later graduated with a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Maryland Baltimore. I’m a licensed practitioner, authorized to provide psychotherapy in the state of Maryland. One concept that stayed with me from my studies is Dr. Daniel Siegel’s idea of the mind, body, and brain being interconnected. Over the past 10 years of practice, my approach has evolved, and I now specialize in Internal Family Systems (IFS). This approach teaches that instead of having just one persona, we all have multiple parts of ourselves, none of which are “bad.” When we work together, you’ll quickly learn that every part of you deserves care and understanding.

As a Doctor in Nursing Practice, I have been in healthcare for over ten years, which has prepared me to manage my patients with evidence-based treatment modalities. I bring compassion and commitment to my practice of caring for the holistic needs of my patients, which entails a comprehensive assessment and evaluation of the patient’s psychological, emotional, and physical well-being, also creating a plan of care that will optimize a favorable outcome in a realistic, goal-oriented length of time, with the patient’s buy-in.

I believe that optimal mental health is achieved through an ongoing, multi-pronged approach. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner I am well trained in the art and science of prescribing medications to improve mental health symptoms. I also encourage adjunctive treatment modalities such as CBT. Empowering patients to care for themselves is part of my goal. I embrace opportunities to help my patients gain greater personal insight, because when you can see yourself, you can change yourself.

I am a single women with two grown beautiful daughters. I am a cat lady with two adorable cats who greet me at the door and sleep with me at night. I have been a therapist for many years and thoroughly enjoy getting to know people and witness their growth over time.
