I am a licensed mental health counselor and substance use disorder profession in the state of Washington with over 35 years of experience working in various community clinics, treatment centers, hospitals and private practice. I am also a geriatric mental health specialist. I have worked with hundreds of people with a wide variety of concerns, including addiction/recovery, depression and anxiety, PTSD, stress management, LGBTQ-related issues, family systems, codependency, self-esteem, relationships of all types, grief and loss, and issues related to abuse and trauma.

I earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Regent University School of Psychology and Counseling. My graduate training included a concentration in spirituality and was grounded in the belief, “To God alone be the glory.” That perspective continues to shape my work today. I approach counseling with humility, recognizing that healing can occur in many ways, and I am honored to use my clinical training in service to others with compassion, respect, and evidence based care.

During my clinical training, I specialized in healthy relationships, including domestic violence, sexual abuse, and human trafficking. I also have extensive experience in suicide prevention, crisis intervention, behavioral health, anxiety, depression, trauma, moral injury, grief and loss, relationship concerns, neurodiversity, parenting skills, individuals with special needs and their family members, LGBTQ+ concerns, and major life transitions.

After getting my master's in counseling psychology decades ago, there has been a strong focus in helping others process through trauma, depression, anxiety and other mental health symptoms getting in the way of living one's best life, I am a licensed mental health counselor who uses several skills and techniques to help people heal.

As a dually certified provider, I offer a unique blend of clinical precision and compassionate, holistic care for both the body and soul. My journey began in 1995 as a nurse, followed by earning my medical degree in 2002 and completing a residency in General Pathology in Postgraduate Education Academy, Kharkov, Ukraine, which provided me with a profound understanding of the biological foundations of health. In 2006, I met my future husband and moved to the United States.

In the United States, I advanced my nursing career, working as a Registered Nurse and becoming a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner (FNP) in 2019. During this time, I managed complex primary care and detoxification protocols for adults and adolescents in behavioral health inpatient settings. In 2024, I achieved my Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) and certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).

Dr. Chika Galega-Sabum, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner currently accepting patients aged 5 and older. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Cincinnati and has a background in psychology. Dr. Galega-Sabum specializes in Medication Management, Psychiatric Evaluations, Psychotherapy, Anxiety, ADHD, Depression, Trauma, Substance Use Disorders, Alcohol Dependency, Grief, Eating Disorders, and Survivors of Sexual, Physical, and Emotional Abuse and more. She takes a holistic, evidence-based approach, addressing both symptoms and underlying causes of mental health and substance use concerns.
