Hello! I’m Dr. Rachel, a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who works with children, teens, and young adults (ages 18-30). I earned my BA in Comparative Cultures and Politics from Michigan State University, my BSN from Duke University, and my DNP in Psychiatric Mental Health from the University of Washington. I completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Seattle Children's Hospital. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, I spent eight years working as an emergency department nurse in pediatric and adult settings.

I'm looking forward to coming alongside and walking with you as your mental health journey unfolds. In 2023 I completed my doctoral training as a psychiatric nurse practitioner at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. I earned my board certification in the fall of that same year. Since then I've had opportunities to work with clients from diverse backgrounds with a wide variety of mental health needs. I am a dual-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner. This means I am trained to treat both physical health and mental health. WIN-WIN! I started off as a combat medic in the Army and after my enlistment went back to school for nursing. I have been in the nursing field for nearly 20 years, a nurse practitioner for six years and working in addiction medicine and mental health, specifically, for over the last two years. This is my PASSION and I feel like I am saving people’s lives while also treating them with kindness and compassion.

I take a compassionate and collaborative approach to care—combining evidence-based medication management with supportive therapy to promote lasting emotional wellness.

I’ve worked in nursing for more than 30 years across clinical care, education, and leadership, and for the past eight years I’ve specialized in psychiatric mental health as a nurse practitioner. My specialties include anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and stress-related concerns, and I especially enjoy working with individuals who are motivated to invest in their personal growth and well-being.

I am an RN with over 18 years of experience in nursing, specializing in mental health care. I am also a PMHNP-BC, and I obtained my first degree from Grand Canyon University and my Masters from Walden University. I manage clients across the lifespan and use a holistic and patient-centered approach.

Exploring the internal world is just an integral part of my being alive, and started young. By now, I'm cozy with cross-cultural/philosophical and belief perspectives surrounding existence, growth, difficult symptoms, and medicines. I've worked with myself - no doubt, but personally and professionally, with a lot of other people for whom it's all been front and center.

I hold a doctoral degree from a progressive Jesuit school as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I studied psychology, then nursing, and spent many years in one-on-one home healthcare. There's an EMT certification floating around in there, as well.

In the past, I considered everything from becoming a veterinarian, an acupuncturist, a wildlife biologist, a gypsy with a fishing boat, a journalist, an underwater welder, and going to medical school. The nursing field, however, is beautifully versatile, and ended up being on time. Somewhere in that mix, I am.

Working as a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, for the past 20 years, has provide me the privilege to focus on the importance of managing mental health concerns. I enjoy working with individuals ranging ages 9 - 92. This has provided me with the opportunity for growth, being able to learn new cultures, new or previous treatment practices in order to resolve they concerns at hand.
