Hello! I’m Dr. Rachel, a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who provides psychiatric medication management and to children, teens, and adults. I take a holistic approach to mental health, often incorporating evidence-based interventions such as therapy and lifestyle changes into the care I provide.
I earned my BA in Comparative Cultures and Politics from Michigan State University, my BSN from Duke University, and my DNP in Psychiatric Mental Health from the University of Washington. I completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Seattle Children's Hospital. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, I spent eight years working as an emergency department nurse in pediatric and adult settings.
I am a dual-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner. This means I am trained to treat both physical health and mental health. WIN-WIN! I started off as a combat medic in the Army and after my enlistment went back to school for nursing. I have been in the nursing field for nearly 20 years, a nurse practitioner for six years and working in addiction medicine and mental health, specifically, for over the last two years. This is my PASSION and I feel like I am saving people’s lives while also treating them with kindness and compassion.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding the right psychiatrist in Washington starts with understanding what kind of care you need. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can diagnose mental health conditions and prescribe medication. Psychiatric nurse practitioners (PMHNPs) can also evaluate, diagnose, and manage medication. Both provider types are available on Headway. If you're looking for help with anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, or medication management, a psychiatrist or psychiatric prescriber may be the right fit.
Washington has a large and growing network of mental health providers, but availability varies across the state. Psychiatrists in the Seattle metro area, Tacoma, Olympia, and Spokane tend to have more appointment options, while rural areas may benefit from virtual visits. On Headway, every provider listed is accepting new patients, and many offer both in-person and virtual sessions — so you can find care that fits your location and schedule.
Psychiatry sessions in Washington can be costly without insurance. Using your in-network benefits is one of the most reliable ways to reduce what you pay. On Headway, you can enter your insurance details to see estimated session costs upfront, and your out-of-pocket expense may be as low as $0 per session — though costs vary based on your location and exact coverage. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, making it easier to find a psychiatrist who is both the right clinical fit and covered by your plan.
