"You aren’t defined by your past—you are the author of what comes next."
Life can often feel like a story we no longer want to be in. Whether you are navigating the complexities of anxiety, trauma, or the unique pressures of adolescence, I am here to help you rewrite the narrative. My approach is rooted in Systems Theory and Solution-Focused Therapy, meaning we look at the big picture of your life while building practical tools for immediate growth.
I work with individuals, couples, and families to create a space that is warm, welcoming, and entirely yours. Together, we will turn "feeling stuck" into a journey of empowerment. I’m a proud graduate of the University of West GA and National University, and I’m ready to help you start your next chapter
Jami Rieffel, LMFT
Founder & Therapist, CoAuthored Therapy
I believe therapy is most powerful when it feels like a story we write together. I bring a collaborative, narrative-based approach to working with individuals, couples, and families. My goal is to create a space where clients feel both supported and empowered to re-author the stories that shape their lives.
I earned my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from National University, where I focused on systems theory and narrative practice. Over the years, I’ve worked with diverse populations supporting clients through challenges such as relationship transitions, trauma recovery, and identity exploration.
I specialize in sex therapy and relationship counseling for LGBTQ+, gender-expansive, kink-involved, and consensually non-monogamous adults. You may feel capable and self-aware in most areas of life yet unsettled in your closest relationships. Together, we will connect the dots between present triggers and earlier relational experiences so recurring patterns can be understood and shifted with intention.
Have you been feeling stuck? Struggling to get out of bed each morning? If depression, anxiety, trauma, or challenges from ADHD/neurodiversity are making it difficult for you to get through the day, therapy can be a great tool to help you find a solution to navigating these experiences. I have over five years of experience working in various mental health settings where I have developed specific skills and strategies to help you live a more meaningful and satisfying life.

Headway makes it easier to connect with affirming therapists who understand your identity — from finding the right therapist, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding LGBTQIA+ therapists in Augusta starts with choosing care that is identity-affirming and aligned with your needs. An affirming therapist may support people navigating identity, relationships, family dynamics, anxiety, depression, trauma, or stress related to lived experience. As you compare therapists, look for bios that mention affirmative therapy, WPATH training, gender-diverse experience, or direct experience supporting LGBTQIA+ clients. These details can help you find a therapist whose background matches what you want from care.
Augusta has a range of mental health professionals, but therapists who explicitly focus on LGBTQIA+ care may be fewer than in larger metro areas. Virtual appointments can expand your options while keeping in-person care available if you prefer a local office. Beyond specialty, consider appointment availability, whether the therapist offers a free phone consultation, and whether their communication style feels like a fit. Reading profiles before booking can help you see how each therapist describes their approach, populations served, and session structure.
Therapy in Augusta can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to lower session costs and understand what you may pay before care begins. Headway helps you search for LGBTQIA+ therapists in Augusta who are accepting new patients, compare profiles, enter your insurance details for an estimated cost, and book directly when you’re ready.
