Hello and welcome to comprehensive psychiatric services at DMD Health and Wellness!
As a General (Adult) and Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist, I am passionate about empowering all ages on their journey towards mental health and well-being.
I completed a residency in General Psychiatry and fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Georgia's prestigious medical college, one of the oldest medical schools in the nation. This expert, specialized training has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to understand the unique psychological needs of children, adolescents, and adults.
I am a Board Certified Psychiatrist, Board Certified Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist, and am also a Board Certified Pediatrician (triple-trained in General Pediatrics, General Psychiatry, and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry). I completed a pediatrics residency at NYC’s only academic Children’s Hospital in Brooklyn, SUNY Downstate, with additional pediatric and psychiatric internships at Brooklyn’s Maimonides Medical Center.
I graduated with my medical degree (Doctorate) with clinical accolades from New York’s oldest osteopathic medical school, NYIT.
I have worked in the helping profession since I was a teenager. I have always known that my passion was working with people. I obtained Master's in Social Work from Kennesaw State University in 2011 and my LCSW in 2017.
I’m Richshawna Sims, a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience supporting individuals, families, and couples through life’s most challenging moments. My approach is grounded in compassion, practicality, and a deep understanding that meaningful change happens when people feel both supported and empowered.
Throughout my career, I have worked across a wide range of behavioral health settings—from community-based services and managed care to leadership roles within national organizations. This experience allows me to bring a well-rounded, real-world perspective to the counseling process, blending clinical expertise with practical strategies that clients can apply in their daily lives.
In addition to counseling, I have extensive experience in training, program development, and care management, which enhances my ability to support clients with complex needs and connect them to meaningful resources.
As a practice owner, I am committed to providing services that are not only effective but also responsive to the unique needs of each individual and family I serve.
My goal is simple: to help you move forward with clarity, confidence, and the tools you need to create lasting change
After spending 12 years working in the legal field, having 3 children, and ensuring my son with special needs had the support he needed to reach his potential, which he did beautifully, I decided to follow my (other) passion. Went back to school in 2016 to earn my Masters in Social Work, which allowed me to follow my dream - helping people find their voice, their identify, their peace, their power and their ability to grow.
I work with adults who may be navigating anxiety, depression, grief, life stress, relationship challenges, and cultural or racial identity concerns. I aim to create a space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported. Together, we can explore what feels heavy, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and build practical tools that feel grounded, personalized, and sustainable in your everyday life.

With a strong foundation in both primary care and mental health, Camille integrates evidence-based medical and therapeutic approaches to support the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of her patients.
Therapy is a "later in life" career for me. I have worked in multiple fields and with people from many backgrounds. Through this I learned that the thread connecting all of us is our desire to be able to respond rather than just react and thrive rather than just survive. What prevents this are the beliefs, experiences, and traumas that often are held in our bodies. It is when we identify and resolve these, we will live and love fully.
Being human can be hard under the best of circumstances. When anxiety, panic, obsessive thoughts, repetitive behaviors, and difficulties in interpersonal relationships are added, the challenges can be daunting. It is a true honor to be able to accompany people on their journey towards better navigating the challenges of life with greater calm, curiosity, compassion, and courage, as well as deeper connections with those around them. As a Professional Counselor, I have the privilege of working with clients to discover their path towards a meaningful, authentic, and rewarding life.
I come to the field of counseling after 15 years in the corporate world. My experience working with individuals with high anxiety have informed my interest in helping people overcome difficulties and achieve their potential. My areas of experience are: Anxiety and Relationships, which are often related, and other times completely independent of each other.
On the Anxiety side, I specialize in OCD, trichotillomania, skin picking, GAD, panic, trauma, and hoarding. I am passionate about working with individuals who suffer from Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors – a condition with which I personally struggled for over 15 years. I am equally passionate about working with people through their intimate relationships.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Searching for therapists in Georgia starts with finding someone whose training fits your needs. Across the state, therapy options vary between larger cities, suburbs, and rural areas, so it helps to look closely at each therapist’s specialties and approach. If you are looking for support with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, trauma, or life transitions, review whether a therapist lists experience with those concerns. You can also look for approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, acceptance and commitment therapy, or trauma-informed care.
Your search may look different in Atlanta, Savannah, Augusta, or other parts of Georgia. Some people prefer in-person appointments close to home or work, while others choose virtual sessions to fit care into their schedule. Beyond specialty, consider whether a therapist is accepting new clients, offers appointment times that work for you, and provides a free phone consultation. Reading therapist bios before booking can help you understand how they describe their style, what a first session may include, and whether their background matches what you want from therapy.
The cost of mental health care in Georgia varies, but using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs. Headway helps you search for Georgia therapists who are accepting new clients, verify your insurance, and see your estimated out-of-pocket cost before you book. Nationally, Headway works with over 100 insurance plans, and your exact coverage depends on your plan and location. You can browse therapists, compare profiles, and book directly when you are ready.
