I enjoy taking a person centered, strength based approach to therapy. I like to spend time getting to know my clients, their view of the world, and the experiences that have shaped them. On the surface, substance use has been my speciality, but I find that substance use is typically secondary to underlying mental health or trauma related concerns. Because of that, I have experience in a wide range of concerns and practice with varying approaches suited to meet the individual client's needs.

Katrina is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and over a decade of experience in healthcare, beginning in 2010. Katrina’s professional background includes working in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings, as well as serving as a nursing professor, which has strengthened her commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care and lifelong learning.

While respecting past experiences and coping strategies, I gently guide clients toward a growth-oriented mindset and utilize evidence-based psychotherapy practices that help you break free from limiting patterns and promote lasting change. I graduated with my MSW in 2000 from the University of Kansas. Over 26 years, I have worked in school based behavioral health, healthcare, in home family therapy, and community based mental health. I am licensed as a Clinical Social Worker and Addiction Counselor in the state of Colorado currently.

I have 30 years of experience in the behavioral health field and supporting clients with evidence based skills and lived experience. Together we can explore your goals, struggles and successes. I specialize in anxiety, depression, substance use/misuse issues, stress and life transitions. My main approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Motivational techniques to help guide your self discovery.
