Hi, I am a licensed psychotherapist with the primary focus of treating trauma and grief using science and holistic embodied approaches. Personally, I am also a trauma survivor, mother, and wife with a blended family. My background and professional education help to shape how I approach therapy using a realistic and person-centered lens.
I believe my job as a therapist is to help tap into your most authentic self, and walk alongside you with whatever struggles there may be. My approach to therapy is direct, with the use of humor, analogies, and metaphors; I try to bring every thing together to help make sense in a world that can be confusing. Together we can tackle whatever difficult situation may be occurring in your life and get to the other side.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Human Services, I completed Certified Peer Specialist training during the semester break from my Master's program. I earned my Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia. I am Jesmond Fair, born and raised in rural Alabama and later became an alumnus of The University of Alabama. I completed all my graduate training at UGA and am calling Atlanta home. I am a gay Black Christian cis-gender male. For most moments of the day, I have a random song on repeat in my head. This can be attributed to my background in vocal and instrumental music. I believe in being real. So, clients can expect facial reactions, slang, occasional profanity, laughter, and even tears.
I love working with people who are navigating the ups and downs of life — whether it’s ADHD, anxiety, autism, depression, big life transitions, parenting challenges, or just feeling stuck. My ideal client is someone who’s ready to dig in, get curious, and try new ways of thinking and living. If you’re open to growth, want to feel more in control, and are ready to create positive change, I’m here to support you every step of the way!
I help individuals to navigate transitions. Do you want to move on from losses and changes in your life? Are you navigating rocky areas in relationships? I create a space where you can safely explore your feelings and fears, hopes and dreams. When anxiety and stress interfere with your life, it's time to reach out for professional help. I use a gentle and sensitive approach to skillfully guide you to wellness. I want to help you gain meaning and purpose in your life, and guide you to tap into your hidden strengths and potential. Go on — I'm listening!
Hello! I'm so excited that you are here. Welcome to the start of something new! My name is Samaria Witherspoon, but I’m commonly known as Sam. I am an author, professor as well as the founder of Hidden to Healing, LLC providing individual, couples and family counseling to those that are struggling with trauma, anxiety, overall life satisfaction, depression, aggression, grief, substance abuse, and behavioral and emotional issues.
As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Therapist and a Christian Life Coach, I believe change is very possible. I have been a part of Atlanta’s professional community for over 28 years. My MS is from Mercer University (a CACREP approved school) with additional experience in intensive marriage and family from Piedmont Hospital. I interned with Kathy Steele, an expert on complex trauma, dissociation, and other related issues. I focus on person centered therapy and solution focused. I offer EMDR and Certified.
Welcome. I’m glad you’re here. Reaching out for therapy can feel intimidating, especially when you or your child are carrying big emotions, past experiences, or relationship stress. Many of the clients I work with feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. I strive to create a space where you feel safe, respected, and supported as you begin this process.
I’m a bilingual therapist that offers services in both English and Spanish. I believe in transformation and strive to ensure therapy is comfortable and relatable so that my clients can thrive in an environment where they feel safe, heard, and seen.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding the right therapist in Marietta starts with getting clear on what you're looking for. Consider whether you want help with a specific concern — such as anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or a life transition — or whether you're looking for general talk therapy. Marietta has a large and diverse provider community, including licensed professional counselors (LPCs), clinical social workers (LCSWs), psychologists, and psychiatrists who can prescribe medication.
From there, practical factors matter. Think about whether you prefer in-person sessions in the Marietta area or virtual appointments you can attend from home. Check whether a provider's schedule aligns with yours, and read their bio to understand their approach and areas of focus. A provider's style and specialty can make a meaningful difference in how quickly you feel comfortable and start making progress.
Therapy in the greater Atlanta metro area can be expensive out of pocket, but using your in-network insurance benefits is one of the most reliable ways to bring costs down. On Headway, you can enter your insurance details to see an estimated session cost before you book. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, and your out-of-pocket expense may be as low as $0 per session, though costs vary based on your location and specific coverage.
