I am a culturally sensitive person, and bring these attributes into my practice, along with a skill set which has helped many as the years have passed with the gratitude in helping many clients in their individual change process.
Thank you for taking the time to take a look at my profile!
I’ve been working in the mental health field in New Jersey since 2007, when I began my career toward becoming a licensed professional counselor (LPC). I soon settled into the role of clinical therapist, being recognized as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board of Certified Counselors, with a tendency to most frequently work with those coping with anxiety, depression, and relationship problems.
In 2020, I left the community clinic I had been working with to form a private practice. Here, I can meet with and focus on my clients, providing each with the attention they deserve. One of the primary purposes of coming to therapy is to be heard. I am here to listen.
Not just listen, though! We work together to come up with a solution to the problem or issue you are working through. As we discuss what has and hasn’t worked for you in the past, we learn to tell the difference between a healthy, productive way to cope and a less-than-desirable way to deal with your problem.
Therapy should be uniquely tailored to each person. I work with clients to identify patterns of behavior that may have contributed to difficulties in relationships—with family, friends, or at work or school—and help find ways to create positive change. We learn to change our perspective on life, our past, our entire reality, and recognize that we really can control how we think and what we think about.
I’m Allison, I am an LCSW and received my master's from NYU. I have 12 years of experience providing individual and group therapy addressing anxiety, depression, and trauma. I am here to help navigate phases of life, identify boundaries that may relieve stress, process/understand your emotions and thinking, and develop coping skills for a healthier lifestyle.
I am here to walk with you on your journey, offering guidance that respects your individuality. If you're ready to take the next step toward a more fulfilling life, I invite you to reach out and let's start working together toward the future you envision. I have over ten years of experience in the mental health field; I obtained my Master's degree in social work from New York University and my doctorate in social work from Rutgers University.
Life is an individual process that none of us does alone. I have 10+ yrs of experience. I am willing to travel life’s journey through growth & evolution with each client. I have an eclectic approach grounded in cultural self-determination. I have a Masters & a PhD in Social Work & I am an Army Veteran.
My expertise is with depression, anxiety, PTSD & daily challenges. I expect client success! I welcome the chance to help you find a safe space for independent thinking, growth, and healthy living!

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding a therapist in New Jersey starts with getting clear on what you're looking for. Think about the concerns you want to address — whether that's anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief, or something else — and whether you'd prefer virtual sessions or in-person visits. New Jersey is home to a wide range of licensed providers, including licensed professional counselors (LPCs), licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs), psychologists, and psychiatrists, each with different training and areas of focus.
With so many providers practicing across the state, narrowing your options can take time. Reading a provider's bio is one of the most useful steps you can take. Look for details about their approach, the populations they work with, and what a session with them looks like. A free phone consultation, when available, can also help you decide if a provider feels like the right match before you commit.
Therapy in New Jersey can be expensive out of pocket, but using your in-network insurance benefits is one of the most reliable ways to bring costs down. On Headway, you can enter your insurance details to see estimated session costs before you book. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, and many patients pay as low as $0 per session depending on their coverage and location.
