I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a PsyD in Behavioral Health Leadership and Industrial/Organizational Psychology. I primarily work with adolescents and young adults, often incorporating family members to improve communication and relational patterns. I also work with professionals and athletes to strengthen mindset, reduce stress, and enhance performance using principles from mental performance and organizational psychology. My approach integrates CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care to help clients build resilience, self-awareness, and meaningful, lasting growth.
I am a master’s-level licensed psychotherapist providing therapy for adults ages 20 to 93 for more than 20 years. I help individuals and families navigate life’s challenges with clarity, compassion, and practical tools for change. I specialize in trauma, substance use, and relationship dynamics, and I strive to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and understood. I believe healing begins with honest, conscious communication—starting within and extending to others—and my focus is helping you move forward with greater confidence and purpose.
There's a point where pushing through on your own stops being resilience and starts just being exhausting. I'm Mike, a Licensed Professional Counselor working with adults and seniors navigating anxiety, trauma, panic, depression, and the kind of mood and identity questions that are hard to untangle alone. I'm LGBTQIA+ affirming and actively work with men who are ready to take their mental health seriously. I believe you already have strengths you may not be giving yourself credit for. Clients often describe me as direct, clear, and collaborative.
I help clients manage anxiety, depression, and stress one step at a time by offering practical tools and supportive, empowering therapy in a safe, nonjudgmental space.
As a counselor, I approach therapy through a humanistic lens—believing in each person’s inherent capacity for growth, self-awareness, and change. I do my best to create a space where clients feel deeply seen, heard, and valued for who they are. My work is grounded in cultural humility and respect, honoring the unique identities, experiences, and stories that shape each person’s life. Together, we explore meaning, build resilience, and move toward greater authenticity and well-being.
I’ve spent over 22 years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, helping people just like you navigate life’s biggest challenges. I'm licensed in Texas, Utah, Arizona, and Nevada.
My personal belief is therapy is a space for growth, discovery, and healing. It’s a brave step, and I’m here to guide you.
Maybe you're tired of feeling anxious or depressed. Maybe you're working through a difficult loss or a past trauma. Whatever brings you here, we'll work together to find a path that feels right for you.
You will set the pace and the agenda of our sessions. One week we may work on day to day obstacles. The next week, we may work on past issues and traumas. It's YOUR TIME!

I was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. My undergraduate B.A and graduate M.A. training took place at Wheaton College. Following graduate school in the midwest, I moved to the west coast, where I attended the California School of Professional Psychology. Here, I earned a M.A in applied psychology and Psy. D. in clinical psychology with a dual emphasis in forensics and family therapy. My research consisted of working with high risk sexual offenders. Following my time on the west coast, I worked as a Staff Psychologist and Assistant Professor at a local university. In my free time, I train in combat arts and play guitar (try at least ;-).

Headway makes it easy to find support for your relationship — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding couples therapists in Gilbert starts with naming what you and your partner want to work on. Couples therapy, couples counseling, marriage counseling, and relationship counseling can support concerns like communication patterns, recurring conflict, trust after infidelity, major life changes, and parenting disagreements. Not all therapists have the same training in couples work, so look for licensed marriage and family therapists or therapists who list specific couples approaches, such as the Gottman Method or emotionally focused therapy, in their bios.
In a mid-size city like Gilbert, the right match may come down to both fit and logistics. You may want a therapist with an office near home or work, while virtual sessions can make it easier to coordinate care across two schedules. As you compare options for marriage counseling in Gilbert, AZ, review appointment availability, whether the therapist is accepting new patients, and whether a brief initial consultation is offered. A therapist’s profile can also show how they structure sessions and how they describe working with both partners.
Couples therapy in Gilbert can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs, and Headway helps you check your coverage before you book. You can enter your insurance details, see estimated out-of-pocket costs, and compare therapists who offer couples counseling in Gilbert, AZ. From there, you can review bios, check availability, and book directly when you’re ready.
If you're experiencing or worried about violence, threats, or coercion in your relationship, couples therapy isn't usually the right starting point — individual support is safer. The National Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788\) can help you think through next steps.
