I connect with clients by listening and exploring without judgement. Clients have told me they appreciate my compassion, finding it easy to talk with me about difficult issues. Psychotherapy is a process of self-discovery where you learn why you do what you do, as well as how to change behaviors. Many hide their authentic self, conforming to the expectations of others. Psychotherapy can assist you in becoming reacquainted with yourself.

Hello! I'm Kris and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California and the founder of Village Wellness Center, a thriving group psychotherapy practice based in San Juan Capistrano. I have over 25 years of experience in the mental health field, and I specialize in maternal mental health, depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, and the unique needs of women and mothers.
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Sacramento State University and returned to school 15 years later to earn my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology.
The beginning of my career in mental health started in residential care helping at-risk youth, and over the course of 20 years, my work and experience evolved into leading and developing clinical programs for outpatient and court-mandated facilities while also building my specialty in perinatal mood disorders and maternal mental health in my private practice. Additionally over the past two decades, I was raising my family and actively contributing to the Dana Point and San Juan Capistrano communities.
Through my own struggles with postpartum depression and anxiety, I became a passionate advocate for maternal wellness and thriving families. This became the catalyst to opening Village Wellness Center, where the ability to serve entire families and promote holistic mental wellness with a team of therapists can be achieved.

Having witnessed traumas from my own life, I know what it feels like to have hurt as well as healing. I have always loved teens & adults and strive to love them right where they are. I've worked closely with people since college (over 15 years ago) through private practices, group practice, churches, rehab. centers, camps, & conferences. I have training/skills to comfortably work with teens, allowing me to get to know them in a very authentic way. I have extensive experience working using CBT & EMDR methods & I have expertise in anxiety, relationship issues, & traumatic experiences that you need to work through!
Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in youth ministry at a 17,000-member church in Newport Beach, CA and fell in love working with people and I wanted to contribute to people's lives in an even deeper way, not only through a ministry context but through professional counseling in a 1/1 setting. It has been deeply enriching ever since!

I help heal emotional pain and relationship distress. I bring a warm approach to therapy, informed by life experiences in Europe and Asia. I became a therapist after having discovered the meaning of fatherhood. Prior to finding my calling, I worked in technology in large companies, and startups. I also studied and taught international relations theory. I taught the practice of psychotherapy to graduate students and am supervising therapists in training.

I strive to create a space where teens and adults feel comfortable to dig deep and understand more about themselves and their mental health concerns. I enjoy working with individuals as well as their families working through eating disorder recovery, body image distress, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and trauma.
