I am a Korean American adoptee who arrived in the United States at eight months old and I've lived in Grand Rapids ever since. I have worked in the mental health field since 2013 and earned my Master of Social Work degree from Grand Valley State University in 2017.
When I'm not in the office, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, spoiling my dog and cat, soaking up sunshine outdoors, listening to music, or binging a TV show.
Earning your trust and creating a safe therapeutic relationship are very important to me. My work includes helping individuals through loss, anxiety, relationship challenges, family conflict, divorce and general life stress. Parenting and juggling the demands of children are also a focus area. I am a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Social Work and I have spent my Social Work career working in different clinical and educational settings with children, families, and adults.
I approach therapy with respect, curiosity, and a bit of humor. I offer trauma-informed care which has led me to work with people who have gone through hard times and survived. I earned my master’s degree from Michigan State University and have stayed in the East Lansing area since then, working in local residential treatment facilities for teens and in an outpatient intensive treatment program with adults. I have spent the last 15 years working with adults in crisis, whether that is temporary situations like relationship issues or more chronic conditions.
Healing is possible, and you don't have to face it alone.
I specialize in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), two highly effective, evidence-based approaches for overcoming trauma, anxiety, and distressing life experiences.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and work with adult clients (18+) who are looking to create a sense of self-understanding and stability in their lives. My style of counseling is compassionate & direct, collaborative & transparent.
Greetings!
I'm Roxana Scott. I have 12 years of experience supporting adults and families through the challenges of Complex Trauma. With an MS in Mental Health Counseling and a background in Community Service, I offer a compassionate, holistic approach to therapy. My goal is to help you process the past so you can show up fully in the present."
My goal is to help you build insight, strengthen coping skills, and create lasting change. Our work will focus on understanding your experiences and developing healthier ways to approach stress so it becomes something you can manage and grow from rather than something that holds you back.
I have been doing this work for over 20 years now, and I look forward to working with you!
I'm a licensed therapist in Michigan who specializes in working with adults navigating depression, anxiety, addiction, codependency, relationship challenges, domestic violence, and life transitions. I've always worked with folks who might feel like quality therapy is out of reach, and that's still who I see. That's where my heart is, helping people who thought they couldn't get help heal, process, and grow into the best version of themselves and live their best life.
I partner with people experiencing depression, anxiety, addiction related coping and life transitions to identify and reach their goals. I am dedicated to serving the needs of the LGBTQ+ and broader community and am committed to creating a safe, accepting and supportive environment for those I partner with.
