My name is Ron Morris, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 30 years of experience. I specialize in individual and couples therapy, working with trauma, attachment patterns, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and the patterns that underlie them. I am direct, honest, and collaborative. You'll get:
WHAT TO EXPECT IN OUR WORK
You can expect:
Great to meet you!
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and received my masters in social work from Kean University. I work with teenagers and adults who are motivated to make positive changes in their everyday life. I work with a wide range of mental health challenges such as life transitions, substance use and addiction, anxiety, or depression. This could be someone who feels like they don't fit into a specific place in this world, feels lost, struggling to find their identity in their teenage years, or has fear/anxiety presenting.
Life can feel overwhelming at times, whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, or other emotional concerns. Seeking support is a courageous first step, and I am committed to creating a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered.
As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I work collaboratively with clients to understand their unique experiences, identify barriers to well-being, and develop personalized treatment plans that support lasting growth and healing. My approach combines evidence-based practices with genuine empathy, recognizing that every individual's journey is different.
I have over 10 years of experience in a wide variety of clinical settings since obtaining my Master's degree and becoming a licensed clinician. I use a client centered approach that draws from my training in cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy, exposure and response prevention, and a trauma-informed approach. I have worked with people struggling with addictions, a wide variety of anxiety related difficulties, ADHD, depression, and some bodily focused repetitive behaviors. I also have experience working with couples to address relationship needs.
I believe therapy works best when you can be yourself, and that starts with me being myself. My style is warm, conversational, and down-to-earth. I don't believe therapy has to feel formal or intimidating. Instead, I see it as a genuine conversation with purpose, where we work together to better understand what's happening in your life and identify meaningful ways forward.
I also believe that change rarely happens in a straight line. Progress often includes unexpected turns, setbacks, and moments of insight. Rather than focusing on perfection, we'll work to understand patterns, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools that fit your life.
My goal is to create an environment where you feel comfortable asking difficult questions, exploring challenges honestly, and even finding moments of humor along the way. Therapy doesn't have to feel like you're being analyzed. It should feel like you're working with someone who is genuinely invested in helping you make sense of your experiences and move toward the life you want.
