My Philosophy
I see counseling not as fixing people, but as helping people rediscover the strength, resilience, and clarity they already possess. Whether you’re facing trauma, navigating identity, or simply trying to make sense of life’s changes, I aim to meet you where you are and walk alongside you toward hope and wholeness.
Outside the Office
When I’m not in session, I enjoy hiking, biking, working out, painting, and spending time outdoors. I’m passionate about Texas culture and the stories that shape who we are — both individually and collectively.
Howdy! My name is Jacob Jones and I'm an LCSW, got my bachelor's in sociology from UNT and my MSW from UTA. I worked in the homeless community, long term care and hospice and am now happy to provide therapy to individuals, couples and families. In my free time I enjoy traveling, reading and playing music and video games.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding the right therapist in Texas starts with getting clear on what you're looking for. Consider the concerns you want to address — whether that's anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, trauma, or something else — and look for a licensed provider with experience in that area. Texas-licensed therapists include Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs), and psychologists, each with different training backgrounds. Reading a provider's bio can help you understand their approach and decide if they're a good match.
With Texas being the second-largest state in the country, access to in-person care varies widely depending on where you live. Virtual therapy makes it possible to connect with a licensed provider from anywhere in the state, whether you're in a major metro area or a smaller community. Many providers on Headway offer both virtual and in-person sessions, so you can choose what works best for your schedule and preferences.
Therapy in Texas can be expensive without insurance. Using your in-network benefits is one of the most reliable ways to reduce what you pay out of pocket. On Headway, you can enter your insurance details to see estimated session costs before you book, and many patients pay as low as $0 per session. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, making it easier to find a therapist who fits your needs and your budget.
