Kayla, a licensed Clinical Social Worker with a background in community mental health, recognized the profound disparities in access to mental health care within BIPOC communities. Inspired by a vision of creating a space where healing is both inclusive and affordable, she founded Helen’s Project with the belief that everyone deserves access to quality mental health support, regardless of their background or financial situation.Helen’s Project operates on the principle that culturally competent and empathetic mental health care is essential for holistic well-being. The organization collaborates with a diverse team of mental health professionals who not only possess clinical expertise but also understand the unique cultural nuances and challenges faced by the BIPOC community.
I am a transmasc, queer therapist. My ongoing, personal journey of exploration definitely informs my work as a psychotherapist.
I’ve been working as a mental health professional for over two decades,I have been helping people navigate systems and life changes throughout my career. My goal is to ensure that everyone feels valued and supported in my practice – gay, lesbian, bi, queer, exploring, neurodivergent, polyamorous, kinky, ASE, intersex gender expansive, genderqueer, transgender, nonbinary, and those who are exploring – I want everyone to feel safe, seen and heard in my office.
The focus of my work over the past 25 years has been on fostering a welcoming and inclusive space for individuals across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum – especially those who are questioning or wanting to explore their queer and trans identities in a safe, inclusive space.
I provide individual therapy and work with older teens, young adults to elder audlts who are exploring their gender identities.
I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State with a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Gonzaga University. My professional background has largely been in community behavioral health, where I've spent years working with individuals experiencing serious mental illness as well as people navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and major life stress. I've worked across different parts of the behavioral health system - including clinical and leadership roles - which has given me a broad understanding of how mental health challenges show up in real life, not just in theory.
Because of that experience, I approach therapy from a holistic and systems-oriented perspective. Our mental health is shaped by far more than what's happening internally. Relationships, work stress, family dynamics, physical health, and the larger systems we interact with every day can all play a role in how we feel and function.
My style tends to be warm, collaborative, and often a little humorous. Therapy is important work, but it doesn't have to feel overly stiff or clinical. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable being honest about what's going on while also gaining insight, perspective, and practical ways to move forward.
I enjoy working with adult individuals and couples, supporting them through relational challenges (such as miscommunication, attachment style differences, and parenting), life transitions (including retirement and career changes, divorce, or becoming parents), struggles with anxiety and depression, and identity exploration. I have a special passion for working with women and LGBTQ+ individuals.
I am passionate about health and wellbeing. I hope to be able to help people thrive. I work in a collaborative way with clients to identify the root of their problems, find creative solutions, and address their questions and concerns along the way. I aim to provide individualized care, not just follow a standard protocol. I have extensive experience as a diagnostician/prescriber in internal medicine, family practice, women's health, endocrine conditions, including hormone management and gender affirming care. I am passionate about mental health care and have experience providing treatment for many conditions, including mood, attention, and thought disorders. I have some experience working with children and families, and extensive experience working with adolescents, adults, and older adults.
I enjoy learning about ways we can change and understand our human existence. We are thinking, feeling and doing beings. Cognitive behavioral therapy provides a framework to identify ways to do it differently and better. Trauma treatment modalities like EMDR may support processing neurological and physiological reactions and being able to feel secure and safe while staying connected to others more fully. Our story is just that; we write it and edit it. We get to choose the chapters and path of our lives, through the unknowns, mysteries and celebrations.

About Me
Struggling with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and/or chronic illness and still feeling stuck? Many of my clients have done years of talk therapy but continue to feel disconnected. You understand your patterns intellectually, but your nervous system hasn't caught up yet.
In my 22 years of clinical practice, I have found that nervous system dysregulation sits at the crux of all chronic illness, trapping the body in survival mode and blocking true physical and emotional healing. As a University of Washington graduate, I provide culturally sensitive, evidence-based care specializing in trauma resolution, discovering your true life purpose, and helping individuals make meaning out of tragedies. My approach balances academic and clinical rigor with a highly intuitive style, integrating somatic work and core beliefs to create deep, lasting relief. I describe myself as a direct, compassionate "soul sister" with a humorous, no-nonsense style—because let's face it, the human plight is nuts! Beyond individual therapy, I extend this transformative work to the community by offering interactive public workshops designed to help people get out of their heads and step into integrated change.
