I chose psychology as a focus of study before I entered high school and I always find that there is something new to learn. I started working first with children and families and after graduate school began working mostly with adults at an outpatient clinic in the East Village. I have spent the last few years teaching DBT at a Partial Hospitalization Program.

Beyond being a therapist, I am a husband, dog-dad and musician. As a therapist, I believe that we are shaped by the people, experiences and places in our lives. Degrees, schooling and theoretical orientation are important, but they don't replace authentic human connection. I focus my work within the LGBTQ+ community to foster connections free from judgment through a sense of belonging and shared identity.

I started off as a therapist about twenty years ago working mostly with people with addiction problems and then branched out into other areas. I came to see that people have often been wounded in different ways and they needed time to talk but also mindful experiential methods to help heal wounds and memories from the past and the resulting problems and issues. I spent a lot of resources getting trained in mindfulness somatic experiential (mind/body) approaches and found people got much better and better faster with these methods. I am mainly trained in these four methods: Hakomi created by Ron Kurtz, Comprehensive Resource Model by Lisa Schwarz, Recreation of the Self by Jon Eisman, and Primary Attachment Therapy by Donna Roy. With these models and their techniques, a good fit with you the client, and a good deal of caring on my part I'm confident to help anybody who is looking for help.
I can be helpful in many different way such as:
Difficulties or transition in your relationship or work.
Helping you become more comfotable in your body.
Helping you tell people what you really think and feel and overcoming a fear or rejection.
Overcoming anxiety or depression and other issues.
I'm happy to have a free consultation with you for 15-30 minutes which can be online or in person. If it doesn't look like we would be a good fit I may be able point you towards the type of therapist you may be looking for.
