Nicolas received his B.A. in psychology from James Madison University in Virginia and his M.S. in Counselor Education-Clinical Mental Health Counseling Track, from Florida International University. He spent over 15 years working with youth and families in the Juvenile Justice Systems in Virginia and Florida before entering into private practice. During that time, he occupied positions in both residential and outpatient settings including serving as a clinical supervisor to multiple teams of therapists operating in Miami-Dade and Broward county.

I am trained in the research-based Gottman Method for couples counseling, Level 1 and 2. I'm also EMDR certified for trauma resolution counseling. I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in good standing in NJ and FL. I'm fluent in English and Spanish. My personal experiences ignited in me a desire to grow and to help others feel empowered, supported, and hopeful. My professional experiences have fueled my passion to heal and help people achieve the life they desire. I love working with couples and helping partners rebuild connection and trust. Please note that most insurance plans do not cover couples therapy, as it is not considered a medically necessary service. For this reason, couples sessions are offered on a private-pay basis.

I have background experience working with clients who struggle with anxiety and depression, or similar symptoms, as well as substance abuse, some trauma (primarily relationship and attachment-related), and occupational or educational challenges or stressors. I worked at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies for thirteen years alongside world-class health and wellness experts, which brings depth to my work as a psychotherapist.
