Becoming a therapist was inspired by those who helped me navigate my own personal struggles—I proudly identify as the first people in my family to graduate from high school. I connect best with those who are seeking connection and understanding. I enjoy working with "busy brains" and deep feelers often those navigating anxiety, a harsh relationship with themselves, or feeling unsatisfied in their daily life. My casual demeanor and practice is based on my values of authenticity and balance. My professional career started out in outdoor recreation and education, where I led group development programs and later worked in wilderness therapy—a role that deepened my interest in helping others grow through challenge and connection. My skills and passions have since expanded by working in community practice, group private practice, and education.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I believe that hope and healing are possible for everyone. My mother taught me and my brothers from a very young age not to ever hate anyone. Her words have been invaluable to me. My father instilled in us boys a mantra that too has served me well. He said to us innumerable times "Listen." Neither of my parents were strict disciplinarians, and they never used corporal punishment. But, from boyhood, through adolescence and into young adulthood, my brothers and I could count on a well-deserved lecture and extra chores if either of my parents ever caught us breaking one of these rules. My parents' philosophy helped steer me into my life's work, and I employ their beliefs daily in my career as a therapist. I believe people seek counseling so they can be accepted, validated and heard. I committed to myself long ago to never hate and to always listen to my patients/clients/consumers, regardless of their behaviors.Validation, empowerment and dignity are what I strive to create, cultivate and reap in every therapeutic alliance into which I enter.
