I’m Tashaniyi, a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional. My path to psychiatry began in the ICU, where I trained at Johns Hopkins and the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Watching patients survive their worst moments made one thing clear: the body and mind are inseparable, and conventional care alone rarely tells the whole story.
That conviction shapes everything I do at Aurelia Integrative Psychiatric Care. I specialize in burnout, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders, and I work with high-performing professionals who have tried the standard approaches and still feel like something is missing. My care integrates psychiatric treatment with labs, pharmacogenetic testing, and nervous system restoration because I believe you deserve more than a prescription and a follow-up in 90 days.
I start where most providers stop.
"Let’s work together to discover the most important person—YOU!" I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, grief, and PTSD. With 29 years of nursing experience, I work with clients ages 12 and up, including extensive experience working with Veterans.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mental Health and Human Services, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing Education, and a Post-Master’s Certificate as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
My goal is to create a non judgemental, safe, trusting therapeutic relationship—one where you can release past hurts, rediscover your strengths, and embrace the importance of caring for yourself.
My appointments are all virtual and available during non conventional times for the working person with evening and weekend appointments. Trying to offer dates and times that do not interfere with your work time. I have experience with working with those who have served our country- Veterans.
I am a licensed mental health therapist with over 20 years experience in the mental and behavioral health field. I partner with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and other mental health disorders, who are ready to transition from surviving to thriving.
With over twenty-seven years of diverse nursing experience, particularly in Emergency Room and Mental Health settings, such as St. Elizabeth Hospital, Providence Hospital, and the Psychiatric Institute of Washington. These positions have equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of both clinical excellence and operational efficiency.
As a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I provide personalized assessments, therapy, and medication management designed for you and your loved ones. Whether you’re facing depression, substance use, or personality challenges, I work with you to create a plan that helps you feel stable, supported, and able to live at your best.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or weighed down by past experiences, taking this step is already a meaningful start. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and I help clients work through trauma, substance use, family conflict, and major life transitions.
Introduction
I have a passion for helping individuals and couples navigate their mental health journeys. I offer virtual therapy sessions, making it convenient for you to receive support from the comfort of your own space. Fluent in both English and Swahili.
Originally from the East Coast, I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland (go Terps!) where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Human Development. During my time there, I was selected for the Advocates for Children Scholars Program, an initiative focused on social justice, policy, and advocacy supporting children and families from diverse communities. This experience helped shape my commitment to providing compassionate, trauma-informed care for individuals and families across Maryland.
I later earned my Master of Science in Counseling from California State University, Northridge, where I specialized in Professional Clinical Counseling and School Counseling. My graduate training emphasized evidence-based approaches that support emotional wellness, build resilience, and help clients navigate life’s challenges with confidence.
Clients who seek counseling may feel overwhelmed, stressed out, frustrated and anxious. My warm, compassionate demeanor coupled with a straightforward approach creates a supportive environment in which clients learn skills and receive guidance to become more engaged in their lives.
I also understand that the workplace can be rewarding, but also challenging, impacting a person’s happiness. Client’s leave therapy with coping strategies, helpful problem-solving abilities, and hope for the future.
