Do you feel misunderstood by others, judged, or find it challenging to connect with others? Therapy is a safe place where you can understand yourself better and learn to cope with these thoughts and feelings, which may be interfering with your happiness, health, and relationships.
I am a warm and empathic therapist with over 25 years experience. I work with individuals and families to address a variety of issues including depression, anxiety , bipolar disorder, life transitions, sexuality, grief and loss, and substance abuse.
Whether you are in a place of uncertainty and desperation or hoping to reach your utmost potential, I congratulate you for making this step in taking control of your life and facing your challenges. Every individual, whether you are a parent, student, professional, athlete or performer, endures pain or confusion at some point in life. As a professional support to you, I feel privileged to assist you, without judgement, in reclaiming a life of peace and control that you so rightly deserve.
My specialty is "trauma", which is a broad term. Any experience that leaves you feeling unsafe, confused, insecure or unloved can be traumatic. I work with sexual abuse, violent and workplace trauma, natural disasters, infidelity and all the anxieties that may come with trying to cope with these issues.
I use an eclectic approach because no one modality fits every person and every situation. I use psychotherapy techniques, cognitive behavior therapy, hypnosis and EMDR. I also continually attend conferences to stay current with the best and newest forms of treatments.
Welcome! I specialize in evidence-based treatment for anxiety disorders, ADHD, Autism, trauma-related concerns, grief, and life transitions. I work with clients across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, adults, first responders, veterans, and families seeking structured support and meaningful change.
I use compassion, warmth, and a touch of humor to help clients feel safe, understood, and at ease during our work together. I also strive to create a supportive environment where clients can explore challenges without judgment and reconnect with their strengths.
Therapeutically, I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed practices, psychodynamic approaches, DBT skills, mindfulness, and strengths-based coaching to support clarity, healing, and growth at each client’s pace.
Inspired by the Tibetan Buddhist concept of the Four Immeasurables—happiness, joy, compassion, and equanimity—my practice reflects a commitment to cultivating emotional resilience and deeper wellbeing in everyday life.
Whether you're seeking support through stress, trauma, neurodivergence, identity development, or life transitions, my role is to walk with you, guide you, and help you discover meaningful change from the inside out.
Hi, I’m Julia, and I’m passionate about helping people find strength, clarity, and balance in their lives. I’ve been working in the field for over twenty years, with experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, seniors, and parents through life’s many transitions. I’m a graduate of Columbia University, where I focused on working with children and families. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside clients from many different backgrounds as they work through both everyday stress and life’s biggest challenges.
I believe the structure of the therapeutic relationship can help people access their inner strengths and promote meaningful change. Therapy gives us space to pause, reflect, and make sense of how the different parts of our lives — our relationships, health, identity, and environment — impact our well-being. Together, we’ll sort through challenges, set realistic goals, and develop strategies that help you feel more grounded and empowered.

My path to psychotherapy is anything but conventional. I began my career as a scientist and then a high school science teacher, where a deep curiosity about the world took root. But it was the human connection, the conversations, the stories, that truly lit me up. That led me to Columbia University, where I earned my Master's in Social Work and gained invaluable clinical experience at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. After graduation, I worked in hospice care, walking alongside families through some of life's most profound and challenging moments, an experience that gave me a deep respect for human resilience and the power of being truly heard. After welcoming my three children, I took everything I had learned and channelled it into opening my own private practice. Today, that is where my heart lives. I am endlessly inspired by the people I get to meet, the life stories they share, and the privilege of watching them grow. Whatever has brought you here, I would love to hear your story too.
I have over 17 years experience working in the mental health field. I have extensive experience working with clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, transitions in life and grief. I meet clients where they are at to help them explore and process their patterns of thinking and the impact those patterns have on their daily functioning and goals.
I am compassionate, warm, patient and easy to talk to. I work with empathy and listen actively to your concerns. Blood works are drawn on site at the office.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding the right therapist in Fair Lawn starts with getting clear on what you need. Consider whether you're looking for help with a specific concern — such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship challenges, or trauma — or whether you'd benefit from general talk therapy. Providers hold different licenses (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, PsyD) and bring different specialties, so reading a provider's bio can help you understand their approach and decide if they're a good match.
Practical details matter, too. Think about whether you prefer in-person sessions near Fair Lawn and Bergen County or virtual appointments you can attend from home. Scheduling flexibility, session availability, and whether a provider is actively accepting new patients are factors worth confirming before you reach out. On Headway, every provider listed is accepting new patients, and you can review detailed bios to compare your options.
Therapy in the Fair Lawn area can be expensive without coverage, but using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce your out-of-pocket costs. On Headway, you can enter your insurance details to see an estimated session cost before you book — and many patients pay as low as $0 per visit. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, making it easier to find a provider who fits your needs and your budget.
