Managing ADHD requires tailored support for focus, organization, and impulse control. Many sessions are covered by insurance with copays as low as $0.
I’m a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 17 years of experience supporting adolescents, adults, and older adults on their mental health journeys.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and empowering. I believe that understanding yourself is the foundation of healing, and I focus on giving my clients practical tools, education, and guidance they can use every day—not just during sessions.
In our first session, I take the time to truly listen and understand your story, your goals, and the challenges you’re facing. Together, we’ll create a personalized and realistic treatment plan designed to support your growth, emotional well-being, and long-term success.
I am committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care that helps you feel seen, supported, and equipped to move forward. My goal is to help you build confidence, develop lasting skills, and become the strongest version of yourself—one step at a time.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Bilingual School Psychologist with 17 years of psychotherapy experience and 20 years working as a school psychologist. This background gives me a deep understanding of how emotional patterns develop across childhood, adolescence, and adulthood, and how past experiences continue to shape a person’s current challenges.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent over 20 years in the corporate sector. That experience allows me to understand the pressures, expectations, and identity struggles faced by working professionals, especially those dealing with anxiety, burnout, and relationship stress.
I specialize in anxiety, depression, life transitions, and identity‐related concerns. I work effectively with millennials, Gen Z, Gen X, and baby boomers — anyone navigating change, uncertainty, or a sense of not fitting in. Born and raised in New York City, I bring a grounded, compassionate, and down‐to‐earth presence to therapy. I offer sessions in both English and Spanish and strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe to explore, heal, and grow.
If you’re feeling stuck in anxiety, depression, trauma, school stress, or family conflict, therapy can be a place to feel understood and start making meaningful change. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults, and I support clients in building coping skills, improving confidence, and finding practical ways to manage everyday challenges.
As a single mom of color, I have witnessed the extreme societal pressure placed on mothers to choose between their career or their children; leaving little room to even provide attention to their own self care. This ignited a passion within me to use my skills to support women to navigate through the chaos. My goal is to work with those women who may need help coping through these very real everyday stressors. Not a mom? That's ok! I can also empathize with the pressure placed on women of color in the workplace to work so much harder than their male counterparts. Its my hope to create a safe space for you to explore these feelings.
It can be challenging at times for women to have access to a therapist who can empathize with their experiences. Through a strengths based approach, I would love to share my personal experience with being a woman of color, a mom, a Christian, as well as a goal oriented professional in non-profit leadership and mental health.
Through this journey, I want you to find a sense of fulfillment, purpose, and self worth and I would be honored to take that walk with you. Our sessions will not be for me to "social work" you, but for you to unload some of the pressure and burden to make the ride a bit easier. No matter what it feels like, you got this... you can do this!
Welcome to the practice! I have a masters in Community and Counseling Psychology from Russell Sage College. Do you feel as if you are struggling with symptoms of anxiety, depression, relational issues, family dynamics, loneliness, and or stress in your daily life? With the use of evidence based approaches, we aim to meet the individual where they are at. As a team we can work together and set goals, learn coping skills, communication, and mindfulness techniques. You are worthy of what you desire!
Hi, I’m Dr. Peleya Patterson LCSW, DSW. I help people find calm, clarity and confidence through soul work - no matter what life throws your way.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years experience and a Doctorate in Social Work, I offer compassionate, evidence-based support for adolescents, adults and families navigating stress, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions.

Headway helps you stay on track with expert-guided support for ADHD — from finding the right therapist or psychiatrist, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding ADHD therapists in New York starts with knowing what kind of support you want. A therapist for ADHD may help with executive function skills, cognitive behavioral therapy for ADHD, emotional regulation strategies, and patterns that affect focus, planning, or impulse control. A psychiatrist can support medication management when that is part of your care plan. Some people look for one type of care, while others work with both. If you are searching for ADHD therapy for adults, pediatric ADHD support, counseling for ADHD, or help with anxiety or depression that can occur alongside ADHD, look for a therapist whose listed specialties and bio match your needs.
Across New York, available ADHD specialists can vary between New York City, Buffalo, Albany, and more rural areas. Virtual appointments can expand your options if nearby offices have limited availability or if your schedule works better from home. As you compare therapists, review whether they are accepting new clients, offer appointment times that fit your calendar, and have experience with both ADHD and related concerns like anxiety or depression. Provider bios can also show how a therapist structures sessions, communicates, and approaches practical skill-building.
The cost of ADHD therapy in New York varies, and using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs. Headway helps you search for licensed therapists and psychiatrists who are accepting new clients, review detailed profiles, and see your estimated out-of-pocket cost before you book. Nationally, Headway partners with many insurance plans, and you can enter your insurance details to confirm coverage for your location and plan. From there, you can compare ADHD therapists, review bios, and book directly when you are ready.
If you're already taking psychiatric medication and considering switching providers, talk to your current prescriber before changing or stopping any medication — most psychiatric medications shouldn't be stopped abruptly. Anyone experiencing thoughts of self-harm or in acute crisis should call 988 or go to the nearest emergency department rather than wait for an outpatient appointment.
