Hi, I'm Selena! I'm a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with over 20 years of nursing experience across settings like oncology, acute care, rehabilitation, and family medicine, in addition to psychiatry. That background shapes how I practice today — I like to look at the whole person, not just a list of symptoms. My focus is helping people with ADHD, anxiety, and depression find care that actually fits their life. Taking this step isn't easy, and I'm glad you're here.
Mental health care shouldn't feel rushed, intimidating, or like you're checking boxes. I believe the best outcomes happen when patients feel comfortable being honest, asking questions, and actively participating in their care. As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I provide personalized, evidence-based treatment while remembering that you're much more than a diagnosis. My goal is to help you feel heard, understood, and supported every step of the way.
I am Stanley Okeyemi, the founder of Brighter Light Behavioral Health Services. I am currently licensed as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) in Texas, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Iowa, Washington, North Carolina, Nebraska, Virginia and New York. I have been working in the mental health industry for 16 years, but licensed as a PMHNP for four years, with a vast amount of experience and affiliations with over 40 hospitals/clinics combined across the USA
Exploring the internal world is just an integral part of my being alive, and started young. By now, I'm cozy with cross-cultural/philosophical and belief perspectives surrounding existence, growth, difficult symptoms, and medicines. I've worked with myself - no doubt, but personally and professionally, with a lot of other people for whom it's all been front and center.
I hold a doctoral degree from a progressive Jesuit school as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I studied psychology, then nursing, and spent many years in one-on-one home healthcare. There's an EMT certification floating around in there, as well.
In the past, I considered everything from becoming a veterinarian, an acupuncturist, a wildlife biologist, a gypsy with a fishing boat, a journalist, an underwater welder, and going to medical school. The nursing field, however, is beautifully versatile, and ended up being on time. Somewhere in that mix, I am.
Welcome to my page! I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I am committed to assisting adults and elderly dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, eating disorders, and more live a healthy fulfilled life.. I am currently accepting new clients in Florida.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding the right psychiatrist in Tacoma starts with understanding what kind of care you need. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can diagnose mental health conditions, prescribe medication, and monitor how that medication is working over time. If you're looking for help with anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, or another condition that may benefit from medication management, a psychiatrist may be the right fit. Psychiatric nurse practitioners (PMHNPs) can also evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe medication, and are another option available through Headway.
With many providers practicing across Tacoma and the surrounding Pierce County area, narrowing your search can take time. Consider what matters most to you — whether that's a provider who specializes in a specific condition, offers virtual appointments, or is located near your neighborhood. Reading a provider's bio can help you understand their approach and decide if they're a good match before you book.
Psychiatry in Tacoma can be expensive without insurance. Using your in-network benefits is one of the most reliable ways to lower your out-of-pocket costs. On Headway, you can enter your insurance details to see estimated session costs upfront, and many patients pay as low as $0 per visit. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, making it easier to find a psychiatrist who is both the right clinical fit and covered by your plan.
