"In a world where you can be anything, be kind!" Hi there, I’m Adrianne Garrett and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the beautiful state of Alabama. Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to navigate life’s challenges alone. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to grow. My goal is to create a warm, nonjudgmental environment where clients can openly process emotions, strengthen coping skills, and move toward healing and personal growth.
I spent nearly 5 years working in the substance abuse treatment field, in a variety of different positions, and found my passion for helping people there. I completed my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Troy University in Montgomery. My clinical training for my master’s program began at an intensive inpatient behavioral healthcare facility for children aged 12–18 who were in DHR custody and subsequently in a private practice counseling setting.
I specialize in depression, anxiety, substance abuse and addictions counseling, and trauma counseling. My philosophy of counseling is based around the simple idea that every individual deserves to live a happy, healthy and whole life. A little help in counseling has the potential to go a long way to living happy, healthy, and whole.
My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and strengths based. I focus on creating a space where you feel safe, welcomed, and able to be yourself without fear of judgment. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, stress, life changes, or personal challenges, I work alongside you to understand what’s most important and support you in moving toward meaningful growth and lasting change.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 30 years of experience working with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, chronic health issues, health anxiety, relationship/family issues. Courage is defined as "strength in the face of pain or grief" and "doing it depsite that fear." I respect that steps it takes to reach out for support and understanding! It says a great deal about your own readiness for change. I am both humbled and honored for the opportunity to be one of the people who might help you along the way!
I am a Deaf LCSW and Neuropsychotherapist (NPT-C) with nearly 20 years of experience dedicated to high-achieving individuals facing systemic pressure. My clinical work integrates Neuropsychotherapy and Executive Management principles to cultivate cognitive resilience and self-mastery. My foundation includes four advanced degrees, culminating in my doctoral research which focused on systemic complexity and inclusive leadership. I bring extensive experience as a former leader in state government, non-profit, and private sectors. This background allows me to treat vocational stress, anxiety, and burnout with humble competence and real-world relevance. I communicate effectively via voice, video, and American Sign Language (ASL). I am committed to creating affirming, psychologically safe, and accessible spaces for all individuals to thrive.

I am Janet P. Stoudenmire-Smith, owner of Alabama Wellness and Recovery Services and a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S). I specialize in working with adolescents, adults, families, veterans, and court-referred clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, anger management concerns, substance use issues, family conflict, stress, and life transitions. My goal is to help clients find healing, hope, and wellness.
Clients should know that I am deeply committed to creating a space where honesty, healing, and emotional safety can exist without judgment. I understand that coming to therapy often requires courage, especially when life feels overwhelming, complicated, or uncertain. My approach is grounded in respect, authenticity, and clinical integrity. I value the therapeutic relationship and believe that meaningful change happens when clients feel seen, heard, and understood - not rushed, dismissed, or judged.
I bring both professional expertise and real-world understanding into my work. Due to having worked in a forensic psychiatric setting for over 16 years, I have experience working with complex emotional, behavioral, and trauma-related challenges. I approach each client with the belief that behavior is often a response to pain, and healing begins when we understand the story behind the behavior.
Clients should also know that I am direct, compassionate, and intentional in my work. I will support you, but I will also gently challenge patterns that may be keeping you stuck. My goal is not just to help you cope, but to help you grow, heal, and move toward a more grounded and peaceful version of yourself. I deeply respect each client’s pace and process. You are not expected to have everything figured out when you arrive. Therapy is a space for exploration, reflection, and growth.
Above all, I believe that healing is possible, change is achievable, and no one is too far gone to begin again.
