I am a licensed neuropsychologist who holds the perspective that everyone has a vibration that needs to be heard and understood. With that as a central principle, I invite you to explore your right to be well through the process of being heard. While various forms of psychological assessment have been a large part of my practice for more than 20 years, I have found that my experience in this area has been useful in helping provide practical solutions to problems as well as insights. In this way, I make use of various treatment approaches to foster a sense of acceptance, validation, and clarity.
I am warm, real, and deeply invested in your healing. I believe therapy is a safe relationship where you can explore, process, and grow without judgment. I won’t rush your story, but I will help you find meaning, clarity, and strength within it. My role is not to “fix” you, but to help you reconnect with the parts of yourself that already know how to heal.
Welcome to Thrivewell Counseling Services. I’m Kevin Stafford, LICSW, a clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience helping individuals manage life’s challenges with confidence and clarity. I specialize in supporting adults experiencing mild depression, anxiety, and adjustment difficulties. My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and supported as we work together to help you move from simply getting by to truly thriving.
When I was growing up, I always thought I wasn’t dealt a good hand in life. I had family issues that would top any reality tv show to date. I often felt like there was no one I could really open up to and share my inner thoughts and feelings with. I was wearing “masks” before the pandemic, always smiling when deep down I wanted to cry. I tried therapy a couple times and it just didn’t work for me. I felt like I wasn’t understood, that I was being judged. I decided to give it another shot and found my match, a therapist that looked like me, that could relate to me and my struggle. It felt genuine and not forced. That’s what made me want to get into the field of Social Work. Now, with 8 years of professional experience, I live out my purpose every day as a guide to help people unlock the tools of empowerment that they already possess. Whatever the issue, (whether it be getting through everyday life, coming to terms with past traumas, getting over a bad break-up, parenting/abandonment issues, lack of self-esteem, or a host of other problems), my eclectic approach to therapy will allow you to embark on a journey of self-reflection, self-love, and self-care. I look forward to helping you find your inner peace while getting closer to your winning hand in life.
