I have been doing this work since 2009 — which means I have sat with a lot of people through a lot of different kinds of hard. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling with a dual focus in professional counseling and marriage and family therapy, and my career has moved through two distinct chapters that have shaped how I practice. The first half was spent in the world of substance use — working with individuals and families where the stakes were high and the complexity was real. The last several years have been in private practice, where I've worked with the full range of human struggle: depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, substance use disorders, parenting stress, and the disorienting moments when life shifts beneath your feet. I work with individuals, couples, and groups. Very few things surprise me at this point — and that's exactly what makes this work feel safe.
Hi, I'm Yumi. I'm an Asian American psychotherapist and offer online therapy/telehealth in New York and Michigan. I'm in network with a few insurance plans.
I’ve spent most of my professional life working to promote social justice and trauma-informed care in the areas of mental health, child welfare, juvenile justice, education/disability rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, and services for the unhoused.
Soul searching during the COVID-19 pandemic shifted my "why." After several years in policy and program development & implementation, I've returned to what I trained for: 1-on-1 work with adults. I work with lots of folks who identify as Asian/Asian American, POC/BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, 1st/2nd generation immigrants, 1st generation college students, and introverts. I work with people grappling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, and issues related to identity or low self-acceptance/self-compassion. But, I enjoy working with adults of all ages and from all backgrounds and walks of life.
I have discovered that every client I see has the same goals. You want to feel better! In a collaborative, supportive, and professional environment, this is possible. I see clients who feel shame, guilt, confusion, grief, anger, hopelessness, and those with high levels of stress and anxiety. I graduated with my Master's in Counseling from Spring Arbor University in 2019. I bring a wealth of life experience to help those who are struggling. I welcome the opportunity to build trust in a professional relationship to help you feel better.
Hi there! My name is Todd and I am a licensed psychotherapist and IFS-informed therapist.
I effectively treat anxiety, depressive symptoms, compulsive behaviors, and most challenges with Internal Family Systems (IFS). IFS, or "parts work" is a revolutionary approach that's not the same as typical talk therapy.
I offer an understanding, compassionate ear in a welcoming virtual setting.
I look forward to meeting you!
I look forward to working with adults who want to make positive changes in their lives. My professional background includes working for many years in a large hospital Emergency Department as well as in private psych clinic practice. With my medical and psych training as a Registered Nurse as well as Social Worker I am able to focus on the total person. Some specific treatment areas that I have experience in are trauma, gay/Lesbian/Bisexual, depression and First Responders crisis issues as well as grief/death situations.
