Welcome! As an LPC, my goal is to provide compassionate, client-centered counseling to support individuals through life transitions, emotional struggles, and personal challenges. Together, we will work to identify goals, develop healthy coping strategies, and create meaningful, lasting change.

I specialize in addiction, anxiety, grief, anger, depression, and coping issues. I utilize a variety of Cognitive Behavioral, Solution-Focused, Narrative, and other therapy techniques.
Are you wondering if you need rehab? I have done over 7000 substance abuse assessments in my career. I can provide experienced clinical input. I’m a versatile, practical therapist who can help with a variety of mood, coping, and adjustment issues.
I've been a practitioner in the state of Texas for more than 30 years. I've worked in private practice, with CPS, provided services for drug and alcohol addiction, worked as a teacher and crisis counselor in public schools, and served as a Military Family Life Counselor. My graduate work was completed at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. I reside in a tiny town on the northern edge of the beautiful Texas Hill Country.
I love helping people develop skills to improve their lives, communication and relationships. It is important to know that one theory does not meet everyone’s needs, therefore I use many different approaches to helping my clients to build their own best version of themselves.
The struggles you face and the traumas you have experienced do not have to define you. You have the ability to create a new path for yourself, to live the life you really want to live. I would love to help you create that life. As a Christian counselor, I believe God created perfection and placed it all in the Garden of Eden. Unfortunately, sin entered the picture and people have been struggling with the effects of sin ever since. While I am passionate about my own spiritual walk, I do respect the journey each person is on. It is not my place to dictate to you how your walk should look. God is big enough to handle that part all by himself. I am interested in helping my clients deal with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship issues, spiritual issues, marriage issues, trauma, and others.
I have been working in the mental health field for many years and have had the privilege of supporting individuals through many of life’s challenges. Over time, I have seen firsthand the stressors and unexpected difficulties that life can bring. While we cannot always prevent these challenges—because life will continue to be life—we can learn healthier ways to cope, grow, and move forward.
My role is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can explore your experiences, develop practical tools, and gain insight into the patterns that may be affecting your well-being. I am here to offer guidance, encouragement, and support as we work together toward your goals and toward creating a life that feels more balanced, meaningful, and manageable.
Life can feel overwhelming when stress, difficult experiences, relationship challenges, or emotional struggles begin affecting your ability to function the way you want to. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, ADHD, family conflict, parenting concerns, or the impact of past experiences, you don't have to face it alone. I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families who are looking for support, healing, and practical tools to create meaningful change. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling exhausted, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward after years of trying to manage everything on their own. My goal is to provide a supportive, affirming environment where you feel understood and empowered. Together, we'll identify what's contributing to your challenges, build on your strengths, and work toward healthier relationships, improved coping skills, and a more balanced life.
I am a licensed psychologist with over fifteen years of experience providing therapy in both Spanish and English. I earned my master’s degree in counseling psychology from Indiana University and my doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My doctoral program emphasized multicultural competence and using research to inform practice. Therefore, I use an evidence-based, cultural and trauma-informed approach in therapy. I have worked with Veterans, women and men diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, women diagnosed with breast cancer, and individuals experiencing substance abuse, depression, anxiety, and relationship difficulties. I am licensed in the states of Texas and Iowa.
You're the one everyone relies on-the one who holds it all together, shows up, and keeps going even when you're exhausted. On the outside, things may look fine. On the inside, you might feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns you can't seem to break. If that sounds familiar, you're not alone, and you don't have to keep doing it this way. I have extensive experience in supporting individuals, couples, and families in their most vulnerable moments. I bring a calm, grounded presence to situations of anxiety, trauma, and emotional distress.
My practice, Luna Encadenada Psychotherapy, reflects my ancestral roots and the values that guide my work. "Luna," my paternal grandmother's maiden name, evokes healing, cycles, and intuition. "Encadenada," derived from my maternal grandfather's surname, symbolizes strength through connection to self, family, and something greater.
