Amy Long, Psy.D, LPC
Hello, my name is Amy Long, I am a Licensed Psychologist with 8 years of experience. I approach therapy from an integrative perspective. Relationships have the power to heal.
Hello! I'm Kayla, and I’m excited to be part of your journey. After spending over 13 years in education, I transitioned into the mental health field, earning my Master’s degree in Counseling and Human Services from UCCS here in Colorado Springs. I deeply believe that each person’s path to growth is unique, and I’m committed to supporting my clients with the therapeutic approach that best fits their needs. I’ve seen incredible healing unfold through the strong, authentic connections and relationships we build together. I’m here to walk with you every step of the way.
My journey began with a deep commitment to serving others, which led me to work within the Georgia state prison system. There, I honed my skills in providing support to those navigating difficult circumstances, gaining invaluable experience in crisis intervention and rehabilitation.
Following my time working in the prison system, I had the privilege of working with the U.S. Army, where I provided counseling services to military personnel and their families. As a military spouse myself, I understand the unique challenges faced by military families and am deeply committed to offering tailored support to help them thrive.
My career path then took me to Palmer Lake Recovery, where I worked with individuals struggling with addiction. This role allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the complexities of substance abuse and recovery, and I am dedicated to helping my clients achieve lasting sobriety.
Outside of my professional life, I find joy in spending time with my husband, sweet cocker spaniels, and my adult children. My family and pets bring me great happiness and balance, and I understand the importance of a strong support system in maintaining mental health.
I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and support you on your journey toward wellness. Together, we can navigate the challenges you face and uncover the strength within you to create a fulfilling and meaningful life.
I believe meaningful change begins with feeling understood. As both a therapist and Air Force veteran, I value authenticity, resilience, and the importance of genuine human connection. Clients often describe me as approachable, thoughtful, and direct when needed. I strive to create a space where you can show up as you are and feel supported as you work toward your goals.
I work with adults and older teens navigating addiction, trauma, co-occurring mental health concerns, and life transitions. I am experienced in supporting veterans, first responders, and those impacted by a loved one's substance use. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready for change, my goal is to help you better understand your experiences and move forward with greater confidence.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 18+ years of experience as a trauma therapist serving active-duty and veterans, and first responders.
I've specialized in play therapy with both trauma and neurodivergent populations and have a decade of work as a state-approved domestic violence treatment provider.
This work has equipped me with a lens to identify symptoms of trauma at all ages and stages of development, as well as an understanding of communication and relationship dynamics in couples and families.
I have experience with somatic and sensory work that applies to self-regulation and conflict resolution. I am also licensed in the State of Colorado as a natural medicine clinical facilitator in the use of Psilocybin.
I have been in private practice as a therapist since 2016, I've also been a stay-at-home mom, and a Marine Officer. Each of these experiences has taught me valuable lessons that I continue to bring to the service of my clients.
