Where an atmosphere of non-judgement exists, lies comfort for one to explore themselves. Mindfulness-based, CBT best describes my style. I value open-mindedness and also feel it is important to address how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Training and education in Community Mental Health from Wilmington University launched a two decade long mission for me to explore the field of psychology and help others to optimize the quality of their life.
Growing up in Ghana, talk therapy and mental illness was not a subject of discussion in my culture. I became fascinated with talk therapy during my college years in America. I have over 15yrs experience in behavioral health and have worked with with adults with serious mental illnessess, children, families and groups.

My goal is to empower, affirm, and build individuals to reach their maximum potential. I will never impose religious beliefs on my clients and will always value and support their individual perspectives. I enjoy facilitating workshops on various life issues, divorce, grief and loss and empowerment. I have facilitated several trainings for other professionals, and I have conducted training around Grief and Loss, Trauma Informed Care, and Understanding Child Development.
There's a particular exhaustion that comes from being strong for everyone — from carrying your history in your body, from holding complexity in a world that keeps asking you to pick one lane. Whether you're sorting through old trauma, navigating mood swings that feel out of your control, or sitting with the weight of relationships that have hurt you, you don't need to figure it out by yourself. Many of my clients are high-functioning people who've been told they're fine — and they're tired of pretending that's the whole story.
I help my clients develop coping skills to better deal with life's challenges.

Headway makes it easier to connect with affirming therapists who understand your identity — from finding the right therapist, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding LGBTQIA+ therapists in Newark starts with looking for identity-affirming care that fits your needs. A therapist may support concerns related to sexuality, gender identity, family dynamics, relationship stress, anxiety, or depression. As you compare options, look for someone who lists experience with affirmative therapy, WPATH training, gender-diverse clients, or LGBTQIA+ populations in their bio. Finding a therapist who understands your identity and goals can matter beyond credentials alone.
In a smaller city like Newark, the number of local therapists specializing in gender identity, sexuality, or counseling for LGBTQIA+ concerns may be more limited than in a large metro area. Virtual appointments can expand your options while still helping you find a therapist licensed in Delaware. Before booking, compare appointment availability, therapeutic approach, and whether a free phone consultation is offered. Reading therapist profiles can help you understand how they describe their experience, communication style, and work with LGBTQIA+ clients.
Therapy in Newark can be a significant expense without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to lower your out-of-pocket costs. Headway helps you find therapists who accept a wide range of insurance plans, verify your coverage, and show estimated session costs before you book. You can browse therapists, review bios, and book directly when you’re ready.
