I find my most fulfilling times are assisting others in seeing how they are growing and impacting others around them. I am known for being a calm and grounding presence in sessions.
If you've been holding a lot for a long time, therapy can be a place where you finally exhale. I work with women and teens who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or simply not like themselves. Whether you're navigating stress, relationship struggles, life transitions, or that constant sense of emotional overload, our work together can help you feel more grounded, supported, and clear about what comes next. Clients often describe me as compassionate, calming, and easy to talk to.
I have over 15 years of experience supporting children, teens, and families across school, residential, and community settings. I’m licensed in California and Hawaii, with training in trauma-informed care, DBT, and grief support.
I am a board certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner with 3 years of independent practice and over a decade in the healthcare field. I specialize in treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, ADD/ADHD, PTSD, and sleep disorders.
I'm someone who values change, growth, and new experiences, which is what brought me from Connecticut to Hawaii several years ago. I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Connecticut (UCONN) in 2016, building upon a Bachelor of Science in Social Work with a Psychology minor. My career has included working at Yale New Haven Hospital in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) and with individuals living with severe mental illness across geriatric, adolescent, and adult psychiatric units. I have also provided hospice support for individuals and families navigating palliative care and end-of-life concerns. Currently, I work as an outpatient Clinician supporting mental health for Veterans.
I became a therapist because I have a genuine desire to help people. I have appreciated having the opportunity to help individuals move toward relief, gain clarity, recognize their strengths and navigate life transitions with greater confidence and support.
I offer counseling that empowers you to navigate life's challenges with resilience and strength. You can access professional support wherever you are, without the need to travel or disrupt your busy schedule.
I am passionate about serving people helping to rebuild trust, restore relationships, and move beyond struggles with trauma, addiction, intimacy, depression and brokenness.
My communication style is nonjudgmental, authentic, and grounded in honesty, empathy, and respect. I believe that meaningful therapeutic work happens when clients feel safe enough to be themselves and know they will be met with understanding rather than criticism. My goal is to create a space where you can openly explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences while feeling genuinely supported throughout the process.
I take a holistic approach to therapy and believe it is important to understand the whole person, not just the challenges that bring them to treatment. Together, we may explore areas such as work-life balance, childhood experiences, relationships, physical health and well-being, cultural influences, personal values, and future goals. By considering the many factors that shape your life, we can develop a deeper understanding of your experiences and create a path toward meaningful, lasting growth.
I strive to balance compassion with honesty, offering both support and thoughtful feedback when appropriate. My goal is to help you gain insight, strengthen self-awareness, and make choices that align with the life you want to create.
My career began in 1997 as an AmeriCorps member working in harm reduction during the peak of new HIV infections. Since then, I've held many roles as a proud social worker. I have been a therapist for 18 years, with extensive training & experience in harm reduction therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD. I have lived experience with mental health challenges and treatment
I have worked and lived in:
I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and a graduate of Frontier Nursing University, with over 11 years of nursing experience and one year of advanced clinical training across outpatient psychiatry, crisis stabilization, inpatient detoxification, skilled nursing facilities, and telehealth. I provide evidence-based psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and adults with ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar and mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, substance use disorders, and psychotic disorders, including complex and co-occurring presentations. My clinical background includes crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, stabilization, and long-term outpatient care focused on functional improvement and sustained recovery.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist originally trained in NYC at St. John’s University. My main area of focus is on working with adults seeking burnout recovery (both individual and group therapy offerings; see website mirnamejiaphd.com for group therapy description).
Additional specialties include the treatment of anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I'm also particularly interested in the treatment of chronic health conditions, including chronic pain and insomnia, including how emotional functioning impacts overall physical well-being.
Please note that I work with clients 18+ years of age.
Do you ever feel like you’re going through the motions or making choices that don’t quite reflect who you want to be? Maybe you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, stuck in familiar patterns, or disconnected from the people and parts of life that matter most.
Therapy can be a space to slow down, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and create meaningful change. Together, we’ll explore what’s getting in the way, build practical coping strategies, and strengthen the tools you already have. My approach is collaborative, grounded, and supportive, with a focus on making therapy both emotionally safe and practically useful in daily life.
Clinically trained while integrating spirit, intuition and the work of visionaries at the growing edge of wisdom. I offer lovingly honest support to individuals and couples motivated to create change in their lives. Clients that work with me often gain insights, feel more connected to themselves and others and increase their emotional well being.
I have lived in Hawaii for 12 years now and am originally from New York State. My dad lived on Kauai my whole life so my connections and roots are here. In my personal time, I love to take care of animals, eat healthy, and enjoy the island. I believe that mental health is a whole body and system approach. I have worked with children and adolescents my entire career. My presence has been strong in the school system so I know how to navigate that culture and those rules as well.
