Hi y'all, I'm Malanna, rhymes with Madonna! I’m quite the unorthodox therapist, so I’ve been told, because I approach mental health with the same sincerity that we take with our physical health. I have a lot of respect and appreciation for the people who sit in front of me and trust me with their vulnerability. I'm big on cooperation; pairing your self-insights with my expertise. I'll do my best to help you highlight all of your hidden strengths, buried wins, and natural gifts that life can make us lose sight of! I currently offer telehealth services but I can guarantee it’ll be just as good as seeing me in person!
I have discovered that every client I see has the same goals. You want to feel better! In a collaborative, supportive, and professional environment, this is possible. I see clients who feel shame, guilt, confusion, grief, anger, hopelessness, and those with high levels of stress and anxiety. I graduated with my Master's in Counseling from Spring Arbor University in 2019. I bring a wealth of life experience to help those who are struggling. I welcome the opportunity to build trust in a professional relationship to help you feel better.
I’m a PhD licensed clinical psychologist dedicated to helping adults navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity, confidence, and emotional well-being. In therapy, I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where you can feel understood, heard, and empowered to move forward at your own pace. My goal is to help you not only manage symptoms, but also build together the foundation for lasting emotional well-being. I often integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based interventions, while maintaining a warm, nonjudgmental space for personal growth. My focus is on helping clients develop insight, strengthen coping strategies, and foster meaningful, lasting change.
I've been a therapist since 2015 and have worked with all kinds of people, from those facing homelessness in Detroit to curious five-year-olds learning about their feelings. I’m trained in Gottman Couples Therapy, have training in infertility mental health both in the US and abroad, and am working toward a perinatal mental health certification. I like to mix proven methods with warmth and a good sense of humor, so you'll always feel at ease. Helping you find your own strength and grow is what inspires me, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.
My name is Dr. Llena Carter. I am originally from the southside of Chicago. I have lived in four different states and traveled to over 40; including teaching/traveling abroad for multiple summers. I have been a therapist for over 20 years and have a breadth of experience. I see therapy as a sacred space where trust and nonjudgment are essential. I am specifically passionate about providing support for persons of color and oppressed populations where therapy may be otherwise stigmatized. I would be honored to walk, even a small part of your journey, with you.
In my 20-plus years of clinical experience, I have worked with individuals, families as well as with couples and groups. My experience has stemmed from a variety of settings including domestic violence shelters, psychiatric units, juvenile detention centers, college campuses and private practice. Consulting work has included Suicide Prevention, DEI trainings, Intergroup Dialogue, and Groups geared toward de-stigmatizing mental wellness for communities of color. All are welcome here.
