She is also a National Certified Counselor with over 13 years of experience in education and school counseling, working closely with adolescents and families from diverse backgrounds.
Karen believes that every individual has the strength and potential to grow through life’s challenges. Her approach is collaborative and compassionate- focused on helping clients recognize their inner strengths and build healthy patterns of thinking and behavior.
Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy, Karen helps clients manage and overcome challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress, past trauma, relationship issues, ADHD, and pre-/postpartum transitions. Her goal is to help each client improve their overall quality of life by developing balance between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
Bilingual in English and Spanish, Karen values connection and cultural sensitivity in her work, allowing her to reach and support a broader range of individuals and families.
Outside of counseling, Karen enjoys spending time with her husband of 14 years and their three boys. She loves running, being outdoors, and staying involved in her community. Her years working with at-risk youth and families-including those experiencing homelessness, foster care, and economic hardship- have strengthened her passion for helping others find hope, healing, and resilience.

Former teacher + school counselor turned therapist.
I’ve spent 12 years supporting teens—first as a teacher, then as a school counselor—and now I help young people build resilience and grow through life’s challenges. I’ve walked alongside adolescents and young adults through real‐life ups and downs.
Hi, I’m Taylor Avery, an LCSW in Texas, and I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of North Texas. I specialize in working with individuals navigating substance use, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, anxiety, and depression, and I have extensive experience in both individual and intensive outpatient settings.
I think counseling helps clarify life's challenges and opens the door to change. My mission is to partner with you as you navigate through personal or family issues. I balance several roles as a therapist, educator, advocate, mother, wife, and Christian. I aim to practice wisdom, accountability, and kindness daily. Seeing life through possibility motivates me, and I'm eager to help you achieve your aspirations.
I help people move from overwhelmed and exhausted to capable and confident. Whether you’re struggling with routines, boundaries, relationships or feeling stuck about your next steps, I offer compassionate, practical support tailored to your life. Together we’ll build sustainable strategies, strengthen relationships and restore a sense of ease so you can enjoy life more fully.
