Life can feel overwhelming when challenges begin piling up faster than you can manage them. Whether you're struggling with substance use, ADHD, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, or the stress of trying to keep everything together, therapy can provide a space to slow down, gain perspective, and move forward with greater confidence. I work with adolescents, adults, seniors, and couples who are feeling stuck, emotionally exhausted, or unsure how to create lasting change. Many of my clients come to therapy after trying to solve everything on their own, only to find themselves repeating the same patterns. My goal is to provide a supportive environment where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes. Together, we'll identify your strengths, clarify your goals, and build practical tools that help you create a healthier and more fulfilling life.
When I think of myself as a Counselor, I envision providing unconditional positive regard and "Good Old Fashion" Southern Louisiana Hospitality to clients. Based on the client's individualized needs, I practice the eclectic approach to guide them through the healing process.
I am Tamiko Brown, a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in Anxiety, Depression, and Spiritual Counseling. As a native of Bunkie, LA, I mostly enjoy serving others. Ralph Waldo Emmerson quoted, "What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." It would be my honor to serve you on your quest to discover that within you and help guide you on your journey through the healing process.
Healing flourishes when you feel seen, heard, and met with warmth and curiosity. My approach is trauma-informed and collaborative, with a focus on creating safety, fostering self‐compassion, and helping you move toward a more balanced, meaningful life. I work with individuals and couples, recognizing how stress, mood, and life circumstances shape emotional patterns, connection, and how your body responds to stress. I’m committed to offering a steady, thoughtful space where your values, boundaries, and goals guide our work at a pace that feels right for you.
My path to psychiatric care is a little different from most. I spent over a decade as an Obstetrics Nurse before transitioning into psychiatric mental health — and that background deeply shapes how I show up for my clients. I understand the weight of life transitions, the complexity of the mind-body connection, and the importance of feeling truly supported. Now, as a PMHNP, I bring that same compassionate, whole-person perspective to mental health care.
Therapy saved my life. That experience birthed my passion to help others who find themselves struggling with life's challenges. Social anxiety, depression, work issues, grief, relationships- can really throw us for a loop sometimes. I specialize in helping adults with depression, anxiety, and life changes. I am trained in EMDR for the treatment of trauma-related symptoms.
I have a private practice i began in 2008. I see adults, adolescents, couples and individuals with all types of diagnosis.

Reaching out for support can feel overwhelming. I aim to create a safe, collaborative, and grounded space from the beginning. I meet clients where they are and move at a pace that feels manageable and respectful.
I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, trauma, addiction, and relationship challenges. I also specialize in complex and developmental trauma.
I support clients in integrating their spiritual and cultural values into therapy when desired and clinically appropriate. I was born in New Orleans and bring a culturally informed perspective shaped by my Latina, Indigenous, Christian, and Sephardic Jewish backgrounds.
I became a therapist because I have a deep commitment to helping people recognize and build their own strengths, especially during periods of feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected. I understand that seeking support takes courage, and I work to create a space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported throughout the process.
I earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) and PhD from Tulane University, as well as a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Tulane University’s School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
