As a board certified psychotherapist, I have worked with adults, children, families and couples.
With over twenty years of clinical experience, I believe your mental health is just as important if not more important than your physical health.
I specialize in working with individuals who struggle with symptoms of anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD.
It isn't easy navigating our complex our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, especially in our chaotic world. Whether it be anxiety, depression, or other mental illnesses; life transitions; chronic illness; caring for a terminally ill loved one; or other issue affecting your life, I am here to help. My name is Barbara. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Helena. I have spent the last 25 years supporting children, adults, the elderly, couples, and families through therapy, care coordination, and counseling to meet their treatment goals. So, let's get started and contact me for a 15-minute consult or to schedule an appointment.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving women in Montana and Florida through my private practice, Heart Development Strategies, LLC. I earned my Master of Social Work from Western New Mexico University and hold a graduate certificate in Rural Community Social Work. I am trained in EMDR, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, Internal Family Systems, and strengths-based, person-centered approaches.
I specialize in working with emotionally and mentally exhausted women navigating anxiety, burnout, compassion fatigue, trauma, and major life transitions. Many of the women I work with are leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals, and caregivers who have spent years holding everything together while quietly losing touch with themselves. Women often come to me because they want someone real, warm, honest, and straightforward. I am not here to impress you or give you a script to follow. I meet you where you are with truth, compassion, and practical support.
Please note, outside of Headway insurance I also accept Mountain Health Co-Op, Peak PPO.
I love the outdoors, my family, pets, books, and art/theater/dance. I have a passion for validating and encouraging individuals. I look forward to walking along side you on your therapy journey.
Welcome! Congratulations on taking your first step toward finding a therapist. Having experienced the therapeutic process myself, I understand that seeking support can be challenging and takes courage. You can do this!
After 10 years experience in counseling, I specialize in a range of evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). In addition, I am in the process of developing my knowledge base in Somatic Experiencing (SE) therapy. My experience with these treatment modalities allows me to tailor treatment to your unique needs and experiences.
