I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 25 years of experience providing compassionate, trauma-informed care across diverse clinical settings. Licensed in both California and Oregon, my career has been dedicated to supporting individuals and families navigating complex life challenges, including trauma, anxiety, depression, and substance use. I am also Native American and can often relate to clients coming from that community.
My background is uniquely broad, ranging from medical social work and home health to forensic mental health within state hospitals and correctional facilities. I have extensive experience working with Tribal communities in rural Alaska, California, and Oregon, providing culturally sensitive psychotherapy and advocacy. Prior to 2000, my foundational work spanned forensic inpatient care, day treatment, and residential programs.
In my practice, I utilize a collaborative, biopsychosocial approach to help clients adapt to changing health statuses and life transitions. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive environment where patients feel empowered to access resources and achieve meaningful change. I am committed to delivering evidence-based interventions that honor each individual's unique history and readiness for growth.
I believe therapy is most powerful when it feels safe, collaborative, and deeply human. My style is warm, compassionate, and direct, and I work to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported while also being gently challenged toward growth. I draw from an integrative, holistic framework that includes psychodynamic exploration, systems therapy, trauma-informed care, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, EMDR, and humanistic-existential approaches. This allows me to tailor therapy to your unique needs, whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, attachment wounds, emotional dysregulation, burnout, self-worth concerns, or major life transitions. I have worked extensively with individuals facing complex trauma, personality-related challenges, adoption, migration, and recovery from human and sexual trafficking. For organizations, I also provide Mental Health and Psychosocial Support services.
With over a decade of experience supporting youth and families, I have experience in developmental disabilities and LGBTQIAA+ issues. I have worked in crisis stabilization, substance use treatment, and group homes. Using evidence-based practices like CBT and Solution-Focused Therapy, I provide telehealth and in-person therapy. My strengths-based approach helps clients build resilience, navigate challenges, and achieve lasting positive change in a supportive environment.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist originally trained in NYC at St. John’s University. My main area of focus is on working with adults seeking burnout recovery (both individual and group therapy offerings; see website mirnamejiaphd.com for group therapy description).
Additional specialties include the treatment of anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I'm also particularly interested in the treatment of chronic health conditions, including chronic pain and insomnia, including how emotional functioning impacts overall physical well-being.
Please note that I work with clients 18+ years of age.
