I am a passionate therapist who strives to empower my clients
I utilize an eclectic therapeutic style that allows me to meet the client where they are to help them accomplish their goals
Being a therapist is more than a job to me. It is a calling
My focus
I specialize in working with adults facing depression, anxiety, grief, PTSD, occupational stress, relationship conflicts, cultural and identity issues, and survivors of abuse. I help clients build understanding and chart a path forward using evidence-based approaches.
My communication style
My style is nurturing, accepting, empathic, and personable. I use unconditional positive regard to help you feel safe without judgment. I validate how you feel and normalize your situation so you can feel comfortable and at ease in our work together.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist because I have always accepted others, regardless of their background or circumstances. I believe in advocating for those who may not otherwise have a voice.
My name is Marcus McCray, I served in the U.S, military for 20 years. I have provided group and trauma counseling for the last two years in the local area. My counseling style centers around motivational interviewing (MI) and finding ways to use an individuals natural abilities to fine solutions/improvements in our every day lives.
I am a licensed psychologist with over fifteen years of experience providing therapy in both Spanish and English. I earned my master’s degree in counseling psychology from Indiana University and my doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My doctoral program emphasized multicultural competence and using research to inform practice. Therefore, I use an evidence-based, cultural and trauma-informed approach in therapy. I have worked with Veterans, women and men diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, women diagnosed with breast cancer, and individuals experiencing substance abuse, depression, anxiety, and relationship difficulties. I am licensed in the states of Texas and Iowa.
Are you struggling with chronic relapse, binges, sex/love/porn addiction, excess substance use, dissociative disorder, or attachment issues? Do you want to decrease your urge to vape, smoke marijuana/nicotine, or drink? Have you experienced social phobia, self-phobia, one or more addictions, sexual abuse, or trauma? Are you suffering from grief and loss or complex PTSD?
What truly sets me apart is my calm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental approach. I believe in meeting every individual exactly where they are, creating a safe and affirming space for open, honest communication. Together, we’ll build a collaborative relationship where goals, preferences, and values guide every step of your care. I am committed to providing stigma-free care; including those navigating challenges related to neurodivergence, substance use, trauma, identity or difficult past experiences. Everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and respected without fear of shame or judgment.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding therapists in Granbury starts with knowing what kind of support you want. Therapists can help with concerns such as anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief, and life transitions. As you compare options, look for a therapist whose listed specialties, approach, and experience match what you want to focus on. Some bios mention specific therapy styles, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, or trauma-informed care, which can help you understand how a therapist may work with you.
Granbury has a smaller local mental health care market, so virtual therapy can help expand your options beyond nearby offices. You may want to compare in-person availability with virtual sessions based on your schedule, location, and preference for meeting style. Other useful filters include appointment times, whether a therapist is accepting new patients, and whether a free phone consultation is offered. Reading therapist profiles before booking can help you learn about their communication style, session structure, and areas of focus.
Therapy in Granbury can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs, and Headway helps you check your benefits before you book. On Headway, you can browse therapists who accept a wide range of insurance plans, review estimated out-of-pocket costs, compare bios, and book directly when you’re ready.
