I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience providing individual and family therapy to children, adolescents and adults. My clinical background includes work with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, foster care youth, and individual navigating high-stress life transitions.
As a bilingual therapist (English and Haitian Creole), I am especially passionate about supporting individuals and families within multicultural communities where mental health may be misunderstood or stigmatized. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to grow.
I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. Throughout my career, I have worked in both inpatient hospital and outpatient settings, caring for individuals with a wide range of mental health conditions across the lifespan.
My passion is women's mental health. I specialize in supporting women through the unique emotional and psychological challenges that can occur during different stages of life, including postpartum, premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), infertility, menopause, anxiety, depression, and trauma. My goal is to help close the gap in women's mental health care by providing compassionate, evidence-based treatment that empowers women to better understand their mental health and take an active role in their well-being.
I have the strong belief that the journey towards healing starts within an accepting environment, where you're free to explore all areas of yourself that compose of who you are. My approach to therapy revolves around the impact of life experiences and the power of the therapeutic relationship. I work with clients who may be struggling with feeling stuck in life's patterns or other issues. We will explore your inner world, helping you connect with who you really are and develop the tools to thrive.
My name is Janet VanScoyk, I studied at the University of Wyoming where I graduated with my master's in social work. Soon after I graduated, we moved to Arizona, and I have been practicing in the Gila Valley for the past 10 years.
Right now, I spend my days as a psychiatric nurse practitioner helping adults who live with chronic pain and the anxiety, low mood, PTSD, and sleepless nights that so often come with it. Before I became a nurse practitioner, I spent more than 13 years in nursing: in inpatient psychiatry, in psychiatric crisis care, and in medical and neurology units at Mayo Clinic and Barrow Neurological Institute. Today I see adults 18 and older across Arizona by video, including the hard-to-reach corners of the state, on Saturdays and Sundays from 5 AM to 7 PM. I focus on anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, and insomnia, and I prescribe non-controlled medications only.
I am now Licensed in Arizona and Pennsylvania. My experience as a clinician is working with individuals who have experienced trauma. I have worked with survivors of incest, sex trafficking, domestic violence and sexual assault. I am allied with consensual sex workers. Allied and part of LGBTQIA+ community.
