Anxiety that won't let up. A relationship that keeps hitting the same wall. Grief that shows up at the worst moments. After 24 years working with people through some of the hardest chapters of their lives, I know that reaching out takes real courage — and that it's almost never the wrong call. My clients tell me our sessions feel less like being analyzed and more like being genuinely heard. Whatever you've been carrying, you don't have to figure it out alone.
Hi, I’m Samantha Maybern, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a passion for helping individuals and families feel supported, understood, and empowered. I have experience working with children, adults, and families facing anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral concerns, life transitions, and relationship stress. My approach is compassionate, practical, and strengths-based, while also honoring each client’s values and personal journey. I believe healing happens through connection, trust, and learning new ways to move forward.
Hello and welcome! I believe therapy should feel supportive, practical, and human. I work with individuals, couples, and families who may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck in relationship patterns, or unsure how to move forward. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard and understood while also helping you build tools you can use in your everyday life.
My style is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. Together, we may work on understanding patterns, managing stress, improving communication, setting healthier boundaries, processing emotions, and strengthening your connection with yourself and others.
I have 30 years of experience of helping those with those who have mental health, addictions and relationship problems. I am honored to help all who seek help with any of these issues. I help clients find solutions in a safe and non-judgmental place.
I enjoy working with individuals who are seeking to overcome obstacles and challenges in life. Over the years, I have worked in various settings providing counseling to adults, youth, and couples. I've worked in community mental health and private practice settings. I am licensed in Georgia and Florida with over 20 years of experience.
My mother taught me and my brothers from a very young age not to ever hate anyone. Her words have been invaluable to me. My father instilled in us boys a mantra that too has served me well. He said to us innumerable times "Listen." Neither of my parents were strict disciplinarians, and they never used corporal punishment. But, from boyhood, through adolescence and into young adulthood, my brothers and I could count on a well-deserved lecture and extra chores if either of my parents ever caught us breaking one of these rules. My parents' philosophy helped steer me into my life's work, and I employ their beliefs daily in my career as a therapist. I believe people seek counseling so they can be accepted, validated and heard. I committed to myself long ago to never hate and to always listen to my patients/clients/consumers, regardless of their behaviors.Validation, empowerment and dignity are what I strive to create, cultivate and reap in every therapeutic alliance into which I enter.
I believe therapy should be a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered. Using a client-centered and solution-focused approach, I help individuals navigate trauma, anxiety, stress, and life transitions. Together, we'll build practical tools to help you move forward with greater confidence and clarity.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding the right therapist in Atlanta starts with getting clear on what you need. Whether you're looking for support with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, or another area, choosing a licensed provider — such as an LPC, LCSW, psychologist, or psychiatrist — who specializes in your specific concerns can make a meaningful difference. Reading a provider's bio before booking gives you a sense of their approach, background, and what a session with them looks like.
Atlanta has thousands of mental health providers, which can make the search feel overwhelming. Narrowing by practical factors like location, availability, and whether a provider offers virtual or in-person sessions can help. A free phone consultation is another way to gauge fit before committing to a first appointment.
Therapy in Atlanta can be expensive out of pocket, but using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce your costs. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, and many patients pay as low as $0 per session. You can enter your insurance details on Headway to see estimated costs upfront before you book.
