Hi, my name is Oliver O’Daniel (he/they), I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Indiana and have been working with clients since 2020. Life is full of traumatic events and we all have been traumatized to a certain degree. We are the only ones who can define it and we are all impacted differently by it. For many of us, our trauma negatively impacts our beliefs about ourselves and our worth. Having a negative core belief system often leads to substance abuse and other maladaptive behavior as a means to numb our pain and drown our shame. I have spent years working with individuals who struggle with substance use and addiction and have come to learn that the majority of them have suffered from trauma. You do not have to continue to suffer. I am here to help.
We are all travelers in this lifetime. Everyone is traveling to the same destination, but all benefit from a guide/professional support. I pass no judgment, I only meet people where they are at and where they wish to be. Let's get you to where you wish to be. I do encourage holistic and alternative methods to get to your goals, but am not against traditional approaches and in fact combining clinical with alternative have proven to have the best outcomes. Be prepared to put in the work. There will be homework, and it will be challenging. It could in fact be the most difficult thing that you do, but it is in your best interest.
I consider myself a social worker by nature. I enjoy helping people become the best person they can be. I want to work with people on how to communicate better and manage relationships. I enjoy working with clients that are dealing with life transitions and grief. I am a full time school social worker and a part time therapist.
I have over eighteen years of experience working with a diverse population seeking recovery from a great range of issues and needs. Over this time, I've assisted individuals seeking help with serious mental illness, anxiety, trauma, substance use, and stressors relating to housing and/or income stability, legal issues, divorce, grief, and religious trauma.
I actively participate in helping you get to where you want to go, and I offer insight when clients have a desire and readiness to hear it. I have worked in the mental health field for over ten years as well, so I have heard it all! My office is a no judgement zone first and foremost. I am a sex therapist and look forward to helping you overcome sexual shame and trauma so that you can have all the intimacy and closeness you desire.

Headway makes it easier to find support for overcoming addiction — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding addiction therapists in Fort Wayne starts with knowing what kind of support fits your needs. Addiction care can include support for alcohol use, substance use, gambling, compulsive behaviors, and co-occurring concerns like anxiety, depression, or trauma. Look for a therapist whose profile lists relevant training, such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy for substance use, harm reduction, or coordination with medication-assisted care when a prescriber is part of your care team.
Fort Wayne has a mix of local mental health care options, and virtual therapy can help expand the number of therapists who fit your schedule and needs. Recovery often changes over time, so it can help to look for a therapist who describes a nonjudgmental approach and experience with harm reduction or substance use support. Before booking, review therapist bios for appointment availability, therapy style, and whether they offer a free phone consultation, so you can get a clearer sense of fit.
Therapy in Fort Wayne can be a significant expense without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before starting care. Headway helps you compare addiction therapists who are accepting new patients, review detailed bios, verify your insurance, see estimated costs upfront, and book directly when you’re ready.
