Hello, and welcome. My name is Darius Brittingham, and I am a mental health and substance abuse therapist with a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges while building the skills needed to create meaningful and lasting change. My professional background includes working with individuals experiencing mental health concerns, substance use challenges, stress, anxiety, and life transitions. I have been a practicing therapist for a decade and I have special interests and certifications in addiction and perinatal mental health. I received my masters degree from the George Washington University and have a perinatal specialist certification from Postpartum Support International.
Dr. Opelt earned his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at New Mexico State University after completing his Master’s of Science in Educational Psychology: Community Counseling from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. During his graduate training, he earned certifications in Trauma Counseling and Multicultural Knowledge Basis in Mental Health Practices, and a graduate minor in Integrated Behavioral Health. Dr. Opelt has completed postdoctoral fellowships in research in Rehabilitation Psychology, with an emphasis on Multiple Sclerosis, at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and in clinical Rehabilitation and Pain Psychology at MedStar Health National Rehabilitation Hospital. He has focused his clinical work on adults who have concerns about insomnia, cognitive impairment, addiction, LGBT+ concerns, caregiver support, transplants, burn survivors, cancer, musculoskeletal diseases like MS and Parkinson’s disease, and those who have amputations. He is a licensed psychologist in Maryland and Illinois.
Dr. Maher is a licensed psychologist specializing in individual psychotherapy for adults. With extensive experience in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, and stress management, Dr. Maher is dedicated to helping clients achieve meaningful, lasting change. His approach is often described as "down-to-earth," fostering an environment where clients feel comfortable, understood, and motivated to engage in their therapeutic journey.
Having worked in a variety of clinical settings, including hospitals and outpatient clinics, Dr. Maher brings a wealth of experience in addressing the diverse challenges his clients face. He offers a compassionate, non-judgmental approach, tailoring each session to the unique needs and goals of the individual. His therapeutic style integrates a variety of evidence-based techniques, including motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), to help clients build resilience, manage stress, and improve emotional well-being.
