My path to being a therapist involved listening to feedback I've received most of my life. For many years I experienced others coming to me in crisis, whether I knew them well or not. I often wondered why others felt comfortable sharing with me and why they were confident in coming to me for assistance. What makes me suited to be a therapist is a natural talent and motivation to assist others in transformation. Hello there! My name is Anjelica and I look forward to learning more about you! I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years of experience in the field. I received my BA in Psychology from Penn State and my MSW from Walden University. The majority of my experience as a young social worker came from a large community mental health agency in Ocean County, NJ. I spent a lot of time with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness (schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, major depression, trauma, ext). One of my favorite populations to work with are the homeless. I spent years working for PATH in the community and found this work exceptionally rewarding. I also worked for a time with local police departments as the department social worker. Another population I enjoy working with is teens. My graduate internship was at a shelter for children and adolescents aged 10-19 who were homelessness or waiting for foster placement. I have experience working with children, teens, adults, and seniors in an outpatient therapeutic setting.
