My name is Sara and I graduated from Adelphi in 2017 with my MSW. Shortly after I obtained my license and began to work in Queens in a hospital doing inpatient psychiatric social work. I have worked with all populations on each of our specialty units, including adolescents, young and older adults, and aging. I spent most of my time working with individuals aged 18-62 presenting with a multitude of acute crises. I range from working with individuals experience first-break symptoms, all through chronic and treatment resistant symptoms. I have also held supervisory and administrative roles, in which I provided direct supervision and guidance for other healthcare professionals, primarily social workers. I also specialize in family dynamics and counseling, as well as mediation.
I'm a licensed mental health clinician with over two decades of experience in the field. Throughout my career, I've seen firsthand that clinical expertise alone isn't what creates real change — it's the combination of evidence-based care and genuine compassion that moves the needle. I specialize in trauma, anxiety, and depression, and I approach every client as an individual whose needs, history, and goals shape the way we work together. My commitment is to provide care that is both rigorous and deeply human.
My passion is helping people navigate anxiety, depression, and life transitions across the lifespan. I support those facing challenges in young adulthood, work stress, self-confidence struggles, impostor syndrome, relationship and family conflict, parenting, retirement, and the search for meaning at every stage of life. Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions!

My journey into mental health work began during my years as a Child Protective Specialist in NYC, where I worked closely with children and adults navigating some of life's most painful and complex circumstances.
After receiving my graduate degree, I worked with non-profit organization supporting children and survivors of domestic violence. Today, I serve as a full time outpatient mental health therapist working with clients from diverse background who are seeking healing, clarity, and empowerment.
Each step of my career has been guiding me by a simple truth: that healing is possible when people feel truly seen, heard, understood, supported. My new chapter with Headway marks an exciting step forward- expanding my practice to offer compassionate, evidence-based therapy for those ready to begin or continue their healing journey.
I believe in a compassionate, patient-centered approach to care. When working with patients, I start by listening carefully to their concerns and goals. Together, we will create a treatment plan that may include therapy, medication, or lifestyle strategies tailored to individual needs. I emphasize open communication, respect, and education so patients feel informed and empowered in their mental health journey.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Searching for therapists in New York means choosing from a wide range of licensed professionals across urban, suburban, and rural areas. Your options may vary depending on where you live, what kind of support you want, and whether you prefer in-person or virtual sessions. If you’re looking for care related to anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship challenges, grief, or life transitions, start by looking for a therapist whose listed specialties match your needs. Provider bios can also show whether a therapist uses approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, or trauma-informed care.
Location and schedule matter, too. A therapist in New York City may offer different appointment options than one in Buffalo, Albany, or the Hudson Valley, and virtual therapy can help broaden your search beyond nearby offices. Some people prefer meeting in person, while others prefer the flexibility of virtual appointments from home. As you compare therapists, look at appointment availability, whether they offer free phone consultations, and how they describe their session style. Reading profiles before booking can help you understand how a therapist communicates, what they focus on, and whether their approach fits what you’re looking for.
The cost of mental health care in New York varies, but using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs. Headway helps make that process easier by showing therapists who are accepting new patients, verifying your insurance, and estimating your out-of-pocket cost before you book. Nationally, Headway partners with 100+ insurance plans, and you can confirm coverage based on your location and specific plan. Browse therapists, review bios, and book directly when you’re ready.
