Hi there! Thank you for considering me as someone you'd have come alongside you on this leg of your journey! Here's some background about me to help determine if I'm a good fit. Let's start with a classic, I took psychology classes in high school and really enjoyed it! Pair that with a passion for helping others and a love for science, landing on studying psychology in college felt like a natural option. I completed my bachelor's degree in psychology in 2014 then went on to work in healthcare and volunteering in a mental healthcare setting until I started graduate school in 2016. At that same time, I began working as community based case manager helping people with a variety of mental health challenges like anxiety, depression and trauma. My experience in these areas expanded when I began counseling as an intern in 2018. The following year, I began as a licensed therapist, in private practice, where I've continued helping folks navigate stress, relationship dynamics, setting boundaries, processing and making sense of past experiences and holding space for thoughts, feelings, emotions and figuring out ways to create the changes they want in their lives.
I am open and honest with all my clients. I have an LISW and have work in the mental health field since I was 21, starting with working in direct care in a child residential facility, to a Workshop for intellectually disabled adults, assistant to psychologist who performed psychological testing, to 4 years as a therapist. Personally I am married with 2 wonderful children and prefer to read novels on my free time.
Hi I am Marya and I’m an LPCC and LICDC, specializing in co-occurring disorders and trauma. I have worked with various populations including juveniles, domestic violence victims, child advocacy, and adults with substance use issues. I look forward to helping you work toward your goals!
You may be functioning well on the outside while quietly feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or unable to slow down.
You may be the person others depend on while quietly feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected from yourself. At Milton’s Place Counseling, therapy offers a supportive space to slow down, process what you are carrying, and identify practical next steps. I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, grief, stress, and major life transitions. You do not have to wait until you are in crisis to seek support.
If anxiety, depression, grief, or ongoing stress are making daily life feel harder, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I work with adolescents, adults, and families who feel overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or unsure how to move forward. Many parents seek support when they notice changes in their teen’s mood, behavior, school functioning, or communication, while adults often come to therapy feeling exhausted, disconnected, or weighed down by life transitions and relationship stress.
With a strong foundation in both social work and law enforcement, I bring a compassionate, grounded, and practical perspective to therapy. I hold both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work and spent eight years in law enforcement, primarily working patrol. This experience gave me the opportunity to support individuals and families during some of the most challenging and vulnerable moments of their lives.
Through my professional work—and my own lived experiences with critical and traumatic incidents—I developed a deep commitment to helping others heal from trauma. I specialize in trauma-focused therapy and work with individuals navigating life’s challenges, processing difficult past experiences, and building resilience for the future.
My approach blends clinical expertise with real-world understanding to create a space that is supportive, nonjudgmental, and genuine. I strive to ensure clients feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout the therapeutic process. Whether you are working through trauma, adjusting to life transitions, or seeking healthier coping strategies, I aim to help you gain clarity, strengthen your inner resources, and move forward with confidence. I’m here to support you every step of the way on your path toward healing and personal growth.
As a Licensed Independent Mental Health Therapist and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, I believe prioritizing your mental health is one of the most important steps toward stability and growth. Reaching out for help is not always easy, so I truly commend you for considering it.
I work with adults who are struggling with stress, life challenges, trauma, and addiction. I focus on helping clients build confidence and develop healthy coping skills. To enrich and gain enhanced satisfaction in their lives. My goal is to walk alongside you as you create meaningful and lasting change.
I came to this work through a deep personal journey of understanding what it means to be truly healed on emotional, psychological, and physical levels. I believe that separation from self is the root cause of suffering in body and mind. By identifying these specific fragments, there is an opportunity for true, lasting, restorative healing.
I work with clients experiencing extreme anxiety and depression, grief, insomnia, CPTSD/PTSD, and relationship issues. I also have experience with eating disorder and addiction recovery, as well as extreme attachment disruption from childhood trauma.
My communication style is one of inquisitiveness. I encourage curiosity, non-judgment, and no attachment to outcome. My tone varies depending on what is needed for the healing process. I have a compassionate, caring presence. My work is highly attuned, present, and reflective of what is presented in session.
You might feel alone in this struggle but you don’t have to be. My work, which has been shaped by my own experiences of suffering and clinical training, is more than a career, it is a calling. I help people move from surviving to living with intention, calm, and confidence.
I have an undergraduate degree in psychology, and a master’s in clinical social work. I specialize in treating OCD and other anxiety disorders with Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy. I use this therapy because I’ve seen it help people begin living the lives that they want to live without fear being the driving force.
I also have a background in working with parents who are experiencing challenging situations. Whenever I work with children, I work with the caregivers as well in order to improve family unity and create lasting change.
I am very trauma-aware in that I recognize the role that past experiences have had in shaping who we are today. My philosophy is that these experiences don’t have to hold us back, but that healing is a journey to be embraced.
With over 20 years of experience in healthcare, I bring a compassionate and understanding approach to mental health care. As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, I’ve had the privilege of working in a wide range of settings, including pediatrics, family medicine, cardiology, correctional health, emergency medicine, and education.
I believe that meaningful care starts with truly meeting patients where they are. My goal is to create a supportive, judgment-free environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to be your authentic self. Together, we work toward practical, personalized solutions that support your mental and emotional well-being.
When I’m not working, I enjoy traveling, exploring new cultures, visiting amusement parks, going on cruises, or spending quiet time at home with my husband and our two dogs.
